【New Arrivals】They've arrived with the north wind! Our top HESTRA glove recommendations right now

Hello everyone, this is Keisuke.
It’s been getting significantly colder here in Nagoya since around last weekend. The high temperature shown on the weather forecast every morning is around 10°C. Is it just my imagination, or does it feel even colder when you see the number on the screen?

I live quite close to work, so my commute is short. I figured that as long as I bundled up properly, I wouldn't get cold on my bike ride in.

Or so I thought...

My hands are freezing!!My hands are SO COLD!!!!

The shortness of my commute has actually become a disadvantage; my body doesn't warm up enough, and the coldness in my fingertips is incredible. At night, it goes beyond just "cold" to being painful. I guess living close to work isn't all positive after all...

We've just received some gloves that I'd highly recommend not only for winter activities but also for short commutes like mine and everyday town use, so I'd like to introduce them to you!

HESTRA is a glove specialty brand that was born in 1936 in the small town of Hestra in southwestern Sweden.
Guided by a brand philosophy cultivated over 80 years of history and tradition, they are loved around the world as a reliable glove brand by optimally combining traditional leather materials with functional ones.

The brand is famous for ski and outdoor gloves, so many of you who enjoy winter sports are probably already familiar with it.
For me, just knowing they’re from Northern Europe boosts my confidence in them, and their real-world performance is just as high-spec as their reputation in winter sports suggests.

Convertible mitt/fingerless gloves with a hood

Yes, these gloves can be quickly switched from mittens to fingerless gloves!

When you want to check a map on your phone while waiting at a traffic light, or when you need to take coins out of your wallet at a vending machine, you can just flip back the mitten cover to expose your fingers without having to take the gloves off. This saves you the hassle of taking them on and off in the winter cold, and it also eliminates the risk of accidentally dropping your gloves!

There are many gloves that allow for touchscreen operation while wearing them, but with thicker gloves, your sense of touch is dulled, and the thickness of the fabric can make them difficult to use. With these gloves, you're operating with your bare fingers, so your dexterity isn't compromised at all.

It's hard to see in the photo, but there’s a magnet sewn into the back of the hand to hold the mitten cover in place. You don't have to worry about the cover flopping over your hand while you're using your phone.

Also, when you do want to take the gloves off, you can do so easily by pulling the loops between the fingers.

Not just user-friendly! Carefully selected materials to block cold winds

It’s not just the gimmick; the materials are also carefully chosen to help you get through the cold winter. The upper part (the back of the glove and the mitten cover) uses GORE-TEX INFINIUM™️ WINDSTOPPER®️ fabric.

As the name suggests, GORE-TEX INFINIUM™️ WINDSTOPPER®️ is a material specialized for windproofing and breathability.
It keeps out cold wind while effectively venting sweat if your body temperature rises during exercise, keeping the inside of the glove consistently comfortable. It’s also water-repellent, so you can rest easy even in light rain or snow.

Recommended for single-speed and flat-bar users!

I’ve explained the convenient features and high-performance materials, but there is one thing I’d like you to be aware of regarding these gloves.

This is true for mitten-style gloves in general, not just these: you cannot perform precise fingertip operations while wearing them.
In other words, operating road-style combined brake/shift levers like STI levers, which require precise fingertip control, becomes difficult.
Therefore, if you’re using them for cycling, I’d recommend these gloves for those on single-speed bikes that don’t require shifting, flat-bar MTBs, or even road bikes if you are using down-tube shifters or bar-end shifters.

Many of you likely hop on your bikes to head to work or school, or even for your jobs, beneath the cold sky. You might think, "It's just for a quick ride, so it doesn't matter," but I believe that precisely because it's a small part of your day, you should use reliable, high-quality gear that lasts.
