Christmas is almost here.
Do you all have any Christmas memories?
The one I remember most is from my student days. As Christmas approached, I panicked, thinking, "Oh no, I don't have a girlfriend to spend it with..." I couldn't find one by the big day, so I just gave up, met up with my fellow "loser" friends, and spent the night at karaoke until morning.
Exhausted, I was walking through Shibuya in the early morning to catch the first train when I passed several couples walking while snuggled up happily together. I felt so lonely and empty, and I remember staring at the brightening sky and vowing that I didn't want to feel this way next year. That day is my most vivid Christmas memory.
I hope your Christmas memories are happy ones.
That was a bit of a tangent, but that season is finally here.
Select by baycrew’s, where Circles Tokyo is located, is also celebrating the Christmas season starting Saturday, 11/29. Each brand has gathered special Christmas items for an event titled "HOLIDAY," which is being showcased grandly at the main entrance, so please come by to soak in the mood.
Now, today I’d like to introduce a display bike I just built that’s perfect for Christmas.
BASSI BIKES / Hog’s Back

The Hog’s Back is designed based on the years of accumulated experience of BASSI founders and C&L co-owners, Jean-Michel Cauvin and Jean-Daniel Lafleur.
We’ve shared its appeal in the past on our Blog, but it embodies the style that these two wanted to create: commuting on a tourer, touring on a commuter bike, and riding singletrack on both. This principle of versatility is the core of their design.
That vision is what created the deep-rooted versatility of the Hog’s Back frame.

When I thought of Christmas, I immediately went with "Red" and "Green"! My choice of parts color reflects that simple way of thinking. One of the great things about the Hog’s Back is that it embraces such playful builds.
When you're deciding on frame and part colors, having a theme makes you even more attached to the bike.
The frame color is a punchy "Cool Ade," so I've tightened up the look with all-BLACK parts to keep it from getting too sweet.
Commuting on a tourer, touring on a commuter bike, and riding singletrack on both.
For the bike's concept, I respected the intentions of Jean-Michel Cauvin and Jean-Daniel Lafleur: "Commuting on a tourer, touring on a commuter bike, and riding singletrack on both."
You can ride it to the grocery store or to the office. On the weekends, you can ride the Tama River gravel paths and enjoy a 1-day camp at Kyodo-no-mori. You can even head out for a long 2-day/1-night tour over a holiday weekend. That’s the kind of bike it is.

I’ve equipped it with the WALD Multi Fit Front Basket, a must-have item for a commuter bike. Thanks to the eyelets on the fork, you can mount the rack with perfect balance.
It's the perfect size for carrying a few items, making it incredibly useful for town use.

For the rims, I chose the SIMWORKS Standalone 001.
Whether it's for commuting to work or school, adventure rides, or long-distance touring...
I chose a setup that is reliable, stable, and great for daily riding.
Many of you living in the city likely ride a bicycle more often than you take the train; for many, the bicycle is the primary mode of transportation. These rims have the durability that I can absolutely recommend even for those who ride every single day.
I agonized over the rim color, but the new Bronze was the right choice. It’s an understated yet eye-catching color that feels firmly rooted in nature, and it will only gain more character as you use it more.

The tires are BRUCE GORDON Rock’n Road Tires, 650B x 43.
The tread pattern features small knobs scattered throughout, providing a smooth ride in the city while also showing its strength on gravel.
The comfortable air volume and surprisingly smooth rolling make them perfect for town use.

The handlebar is the SIMWORKS Fun 3 Bar.
It’s an ATB flat bar that feels "just right and perfect" no matter where you grip it.
Its unique shape, exquisite flex, and multiple hand positions seem to fit any bike frame perfectly. It’s the ideal handlebar for the versatile Hog’s Back, which performs well in all kinds of fields.
