Our custom CHAMPION series, which began with the opening of our Tokyo store this spring, is back with a new release for the autumn.
Once again, we’ve kept it simple by printing on a classic Reverse Weave hoodie!
And starting with this release, we’re happy to announce that these will also be available at our Nagoya store...!
The Reverse Weave is CHAMPION’s signature model, a super authentic sweatshirt that has been manufactured using the same construction method since it was patented in 1938.
The body is based on a 70s model (the kind with the "single-color tag"), featuring collegiate-style lettering themed around our independent community, "CIRCLES BICYCLE STATES."
The iconic "C" logo is on the left sleeve, as expected.
Because it's based on the 70s model, it has longer ribbed cuffs. That’s the cool part.
The silhouette has a roomy body width and a slightly shorter length (Our model, Yanase-san, is 170cm tall and is wearing a size M).
We’ve also prepared XL sizes this time, so Asai-chan can wear them too! 👏 (177cm / 105kg)
With its authentic silhouette and a printing technique that only looks better and develops character the more you wear it, you’ll be able to enjoy this piece for a long time. There really is "something" about a genuine Reverse Weave.
What is Reverse Weave?
It is a sweatshirt manufacturing method developed by CHAMPION. With the technology of the time, it was impossible to prevent cotton fabric from shrinking vertically due to the characteristics of the material (which is why many vintage American sweatshirts are short in length).
To solve this, they developed a technique that incorporates panels of a different fabric on both sides, which prevents vertical shrinkage.
In addition to solving the problem, this detail created a unique design and a characteristic silhouette.
It’s a perfect example of a problem-solving approach being sublimated into design. Truly a case of "Form Follows Function."
This is our second custom collaboration with CHAMPION, and as expected, the quality is superb and it looks incredibly cool.
