Cargobike

Since we've been featuring fast bikes and mountain bikes lately, this time I'd like to introduce a cargo bike that really shines in the city.

AHEARNE CYCLES cycle truck

This frame was a build-up request brought in by a customer, but at Circles, we welcome such requests as it allows us to work with all sorts of bikes from around the world.

Now, regarding the bicycle itself, the frame is from a handmade builder in Portland called AHEARNE CYCLES (pronounced "A-hearn"), and it's equipped with an 11-speed Shimano Alfine drivetrain.
With the customer's permission, I was able to take it for a short ride, and despite having such a large basket and platform, it rides incredibly naturally.
Actually, rather than just natural, it rides exceptionally well.
Quiet and highly stable.
I’ve ridden many cargo bikes, but I can honestly say this one feels the most like a regular bicycle.

As for the load capacity, it says, "Carry up to five full bags of groceries!"
It’s very American.
And when you think about five full bags of daily necessities in America...

That adds up to quite a lot.

Bikes like these are a common sight abroad, and while they are still rare in Japan, I think our cities would be much more interesting if their numbers kept growing.
I mean, just imagine if things like this,

this,

or this

were just ringing their bells and riding through town normally—wouldn't that be exciting?
I certainly think so.

If you're interested, we have a few in the shop, so please feel free to stop by!
