Moving right along, I’d like to introduce some more Cafe du Cycliste apparel this time around.
Today it’s all about the vest!
Actually, this is a popular model that was released even before the Madeleine Windproof Jacket I mentioned the other day.
Just like the Yolanda Jersey, it’s an indispensable piece in my wardrobe for when I head out for a quick ride.
During the colder months, you can use it in combination with a windbreaker—a bit of a "power move" (one that Shige and I do often). Then, as the weather warms up, it pairs perfectly with long-sleeve or short-sleeve jerseys in all sorts of combinations. It’s a truly well-made piece of apparel that comes in handy for almost any time of year, except for the height of summer.
So, let's take another look at the Cafe du Cycliste "Madeleine Windproof Gilet".
Cafe du Cycliste / Madeleine Windproof Gilet / ¥15,400 (excl. tax)
Just like the Madeleine Windproof Jacket, the glen check pattern creates a sophisticated atmosphere not found in other performance apparel.
The back features a large mesh panel. Not only does it provide excellent breathability, but if you unzip it fully, the wind passes right through, minimizing flapping and allowing for a stress-free ride while wearing it.
Also, since everything non-essential has been stripped away, the back pockets found on the jacket have been removed. In their place is a large opening at the base of the mesh fabric, allowing you to access the back pockets of the jersey you’re wearing underneath without having to take the gilet off.
I find myself thinking about the coming season when we’ll be able to head out for rides in this kind of outfit, though of course, our day off tomorrow is supposed to be rainy. Haha.
