"I want to do everything with just one bike." "I want to go anywhere." I’m sure many people think this way.
You can comfortably enjoy rough paved abandoned roads, the dirt beyond them, your favorite gravel paths, and the paved roads that connect them all. If you add the optional eyelets, it can also accommodate fenders, giving it the potential to be a commuter or a fast tourer. For those who want to do everything with a single bike, the B-ROAD from Breadwinner Cycles is the perfect machine.
With clearance for 700x32c tires with fenders, or 700x42c without, this versatile bike is the kind of thing you can just look at while daydreaming about which tires to put on and where to ride, and it's enough to satisfy you completely. In fact, the B-ROAD is the Breadwinner model most frequently ordered here at Circles.
This build was ordered by a customer who has been riding road bikes for a long time and wanted to enjoy more multi-purpose riding, including dirt. It was kept simple, without fender eyelets, and uses thru-axles for the dropouts.
The rims are HED / Belgium C2+, hand-spun with Chris King / R45 Disc hubs. With an excellent total balance of precision, strength, and weight, these rims are the ideal choice for a bike like the B-ROAD.
Of course, if you build a second set of 650B wheels, you can take advantage of the disc brakes to "size down" and accommodate 650x47B tires, maximizing the potential of this versatile bike. For those who want to get even dirtier, who don't mind the weight, and want to ride hard, we’ll be unveiling a special new concept soon, so stay tuned for that as well.

Based on road geometry, the B-ROAD is designed for riding on rough terrain like dirt and gravel. It not only moves smoothly on approach pavement but also allows you to ride with confidence when you hit unpaved roads. This bike's character was born from the real-world experience of its two builders, Tony Pereira and Ira Ryan. In particular, Ira has achieved the feat of riding the Oregon Outback—a grueling 360-mile (approx. 580km) ride, about 70% of which is unpaved—in just 28 hours on a B-ROAD.
Every order includes measurements and a design sheet (drawing), so you can build a bike that fits your body perfectly. Now that Chris King has ended production of Cielo frames, I believe Breadwinner is an important presence that makes custom handmade bikes more accessible to many cyclists.
