A New World of R/C – BLOCKHEAD MOTORS

Since I built my own RC car last spring and started bringing it to OMM BIKE and hosting booths at RC events held by Tamiya and Blockhead Motors, my enthusiasm for the combination of RC cars and cycling has been heating up.

TAMIYA BLOCKHED MOTORS RC OUTDOOR FES 2023, where we displayed 7-8 setups of bikes carrying RC cars.
It was a great event packed with the joy of driving RC cars in the park.

The "BIKELORE RC GRANDPRIX" was also held recently at the Tsuchiura Lakeside Bikelore, and it was incredibly exciting. The race format involved doing three laps on an RC-specific course, followed by one lap of the bicycle course while carrying the RC car and its controller on the bike.

A long-awaited visit to Blockhead Motors

The source of my recent RC obsession is, of course, Blockhead Motors. I was finally able to visit their cool shop, which completely overturns the typical image of an RC and plastic model store.

I also had the chance to hear many interesting stories from the shop's owner, Jun, who is also well-known as a graphic designer and artist.

Stay tuned, because we are planning to host a Blockhead Motors pop-up at Circles too!

The shared charm of RC cars and bikes

RC cars have a serious racing scene as well, with a deep world involving things like gram-level weight reduction and differences in response depending on the materials used.

At the same time, there is the undeniable appeal of how cool these machines look—something we admired as kids. The fun of figuring out how to build and customize them with your own hands is just like cycling. There are many other commonalities, and I think many people who love bikes will easily get hooked on it.

For those of you who think, "I'd like to try that!"—we’ve just received the Blockhead Motors style book, which showcases new ways to enjoy RC cars. Come check it out at the Circles store; it’ll really spark your imagination!
