Invitation to go biking and then to a sauna

Everyone has their own riding style, but for me, I enjoy “heading to interesting destinations.” These destinations vary, whether it’s a festival, delicious food, or a stunning view.

I use stars on Google Maps to keep track of places I want to visit, but the list has grown so long that the map is getting hard to read, so I really want to start checking them off. Since it’ll be an easy ride, if you’re available, please come join me! This is an invitation for that ride. First-timers are more than welcome.

Apparently, there’s an amazing sauna in Ogaki, Gifu

The current sauna boom is gaining momentum. While it’s fine to follow trends, I want to move into a phase where I enjoy saunas by properly understanding my own preferences and the benefits I need.

I wasn't actually looking for saunas, but while researching steam baths, my eyes were glued to a barrel-shaped steam bath that looked like a rocket. It looked interesting, and when I looked it up, I found it was surprisingly close in Ogaki, a place I’ve always wanted to visit.

That steam bath is the destination for this ride: Tanabe Onnetsu Hoyosho.

The facility, developed based on a steam bath created in the Edo period by local Ogaki scholar Ransai Ema, has apparently been operating in the area for over 70 years. Instead of enjoying hot-cold bathing with a cold water plunge, you enter a barrel steam bath using medicinal herbs from Mt. Ibuki or home-grown herbs, then slowly cool your body down in a relaxation room. This sounds great.

I’ve managed to get a reservation for February 23rd (Thursday, holiday), so I’m looking for people to join the ride there. We are looking for a few men only for this trip.

I discovered a nice riverside road leading up to Ichinomiya, so I plan to take it slow along there. We’ll also have stops for lunch and shaved ice. There is another famous sauna in Ogaki, so we might even do a sauna hop. I’ll decide that depending on how we feel on the day.
