The SURLY Disc Trucker is a classic bike for touring across the country or around the world.
With a stable ride that can take you to the other side of the globe if you’re up for it, it’s a highly versatile machine that allows for the installation of various optional parts, including racks and fenders.
Today, we are pleased to introduce a Circles Original Complete Bike, built primarily with silver parts and based on the new 2026 SURLY Disc Trucker color, Grandpa’s Khakis.
*(The name "Grandpa’s Khakis" is just so SURLY, don’t you think? Haha)

Drivetrain: SHIMANO CUES SILVER

For the drivetrain, we adopted the SHIMANO CUES "Polish Silver Edition," released in October 2025. It is characterized by its durability and ease of maintenance, making it suitable for everything from daily use to touring.
With a 1x10-speed setup and a minimum gear ratio of 0.83, you’ll be able to pedal comfortably even when climbing steep hills with a load.
The two-piece hollow crank design prevents power loss, efficiently converting your effort into propulsion. It also comes with a pre-installed chainring guard, which is a nice touch for daily utility.
Underpinnings: SIMWORKS Standalone 001 × SCHWALBE Billy Bonkers
To minimize trouble during daily use or touring with a load, we chose the highly durable SIMWORKS Standalone 001, which pairs perfectly with wide tires.

You won’t need to swap out wheels even if you decide to transition from daily commuting to long-distance touring.
While a standard silver rim would have been fine, we opted for polished rims because the way they dull slightly over time adds such a great character that complements the polished components of the drivetrain.

For tires, we went with the SCHWALBE Billy Bonkers, which are quite lightweight (approx. 490g) for their width.
If you mainly ride on paved roads but like to venture onto unpaved trails occasionally, these tires come highly recommended!
Inherited from the Long Haul Trucker

What is this flower-shaped piece welded onto the frame?
It’s actually a storage spot for spare spokes for wheel repairs. This design feature was also present on the Long Haul Trucker, the predecessor to the Disc Trucker.

It serves as a reminder that the Disc Trucker is a long-touring bike continuing the legacy of the Long Haul Trucker, while also showcasing a playful touch that is genuinely functional.
To You, 20 Years From Now

Even for those whose first bike is a SURLY Disc Trucker, and who later accumulate a second or third bike, I get the impression that they always end up keeping the Disc Trucker, perhaps re-customizing it for errands or daily use.
This likely stems from the Disc Trucker’s reliable durability and its vast expandability, which allows for racks, fenders, and kickstands.
With proper maintenance, it’s a bike you can ride for 10 or 20 years; when you get older and want to slow down and enjoy the ride, the Disc Trucker might just start shining for you all over again.
And even if you stop riding it, your grown children or grandchildren might take that same Disc Trucker you used to ride out on their own adventures.
The SURLY Disc Trucker can be a "tool" for a lifetime.
We truly hope you use this bike to embark on your own journey of exploration and enrichment.
