We've just built up a Circles original complete bike using the fresh-off-the-boat BASSI Bloomfield!
Its vibrant green frame, reminiscent of new summer foliage, is a real charmer. With so many recent frame releases leaning toward muted, earthy tones, this vivid green feels all the more appealing.
A quirky and cute little character sits proudly on the head tube. That sense of playfulness that helps you keep things relaxed is quintessential BASSI.
When this frame arrived, the HYACINTH Ship Of Fools rack immediately came to mind. I knew it would be a perfect match, and sure enough, it pairs flawlessly with the bright green frame. HYACINTH racks are handcrafted one by one in Ukraine. Add a RAL WB Loader, and you’ve got a setup ready for everything from daily commuting to weekend adventures.
This is a single-speed frame designed for 650B wheels with a 45mm tire clearance. For this build, we chose the BRUCE GORDON Rock’n Road Tires (650B x 43mm), which captivate people not just with their ride quality but with their unique tread pattern. The Bloomfield hits that sweet spot that other bikes just can't reach. Let me break it down for you!
A 650B single-speed bike with standard cantilever and V-brake mounts
Don't you think the silhouette is slightly reminiscent of a SURLY Steamroller? While the classic way to build a Steamroller is to swap to 650B wheels and add high-volume tires, the downside is the standard long-reach caliper brake requirement. Long-reach calipers have lower braking power by design, which can be concerning—especially off-road, where it can actually feel dangerous. But the Bloomfield comes with V-brake mounts as standard, offering superior stopping power. It’s a subtle detail, but it makes a huge difference; a 650B, V-brake, single-speed frame is a rare find indeed.
Classic 1-inch threaded headset
The 1-inch threaded headset is another secretly cute feature. Just like the rare frame color, it's hard to find new frames these days that still use a threaded setup. With its long top tube, it has a classic aesthetic for a single-speed bike. It’s not just about looks, though—the stability provided by that long top tube makes for an incredibly smooth ride.
