Based in Boston, Seven Cycles is a manufacturer that boasts outstanding production capacity and strong organizational strength, producing nearly 2,000 titanium bikes annually—almost all of which are fully custom—among a number of other hand-crafted bike makers.
As you discover bikes and learn more about the joy of riding, various ideas start to emerge, like "I want to do this more," or "I want to ride like this." Being able to bring those images to life, while tailoring the bike to the rider's body and physical characteristics, results in a machine that is truly one-of-a-kind in the world. As a manufacturer capable of fulfilling such dreams, Seven Cycles has maintained a solid presence from its inception to this very day.
The order we received at the end of last year came from a customer experienced with both track and cyclocross bikes. Considering long rides, hill climbs, and potential future challenges in racing, they were looking for a road bike. After many consultations, they decided to order a Seven, selecting the Axiom SL, a model that utilizes double-butted titanium.
The Argen tube set used for this frame is a proprietary Seven design developed over a 15-year period. Among the tube sets Seven uses, this model offers the widest range of adjustment in their selection, allowing for the perfect balance of weight, durability, drivetrain stiffness, and road compliance, all while accommodating various custom tube options to suit a rider's preferences and abilities.
Naturally, the parts installed on the frame were also carefully selected to best suit the rider's intended use.
For this build, we chose Seven's original 5E Carbon Fork. The steering system is the lifeline of a bicycle, and weight—often just a number—is not the only thing that matters. Seven’s forks achieve optimal integration with the frame through in-house designed carbon blades and a choice of eight different offsets (36mm to 58mm). They also boast some of the best lateral stiffness-to-weight ratios of any molded carbon fork. Depending on the bike style, you can choose between long-reach caliper or cantilever brakes, and even opt for fender eyelets if desired.
The finished bike brings the rider's vision to life, resulting in a machine that fits their body perfectly—truly the only one of its kind in the world.
Whenever someone who has ordered a Seven takes it for a ride, they are surprised by a performance that exceeds their expectations, and their faces light up just like children learning to ride a bike for the first time; I believe this is the greatest testament to these machines.
