Everything about 7mesh.

As we announced in yesterday's blog, which covered the recent RAL COMMUNE event and details about the next one, I’d like to share some insightful information I learned from the manufacturer during the 7mesh POP UP—the main attraction of the event.

Since we previously introduced the 7mesh brand in Shige's blog, please refer to that post for the details. However, there were a few things the manufacturer mentioned about their fabrics that really made me think, "Aha!"

Highly elastic fabrics used in many cycling jerseys and bib shorts generally contain a blend of a few percent elastane, also known as polyurethane fiber. However, this elastane has a weak point: high water absorption. While "high water absorption" might sound like a positive quality, it doesn't necessarily mean it dries quickly. Of course, many of these fabrics are designed to release moisture by combining elastane with other materials and specific knitting methods, but the fabrics used by 7mesh do not use elastane at all from the start.

Because of this, 7mesh apparel achieves superior quick-drying properties, ensuring a dry and comfortable feel at all times.

However, opting out of using elastane, which is typically necessary for high elasticity, means sacrificing some of that stretch. To compensate, they use threads that are more tightly twisted than usual and knit them into fabric using a special method to provide the necessary elasticity. Furthermore, they incorporate detailed stitching and a three-dimensional construction to ensure a fit that is comfortable and stress-free while riding.

By the way, I’ve been examining the fabric closely under a microscope-like device to confirm that it doesn't contain elastane. Apparently, elastane appears white under magnification. (It’s quite fascinating to look at other fabrics under this as well, so please let me know if you’re interested.)

Hearing about their dedication to every aspect of their products is truly fascinating.

Many of our staff and customers have already been captivated by the high comfort and simple aesthetic of 7mesh.

If you're curious, please come by and give it a try.
