Evolution of things often requires us to give some things up.
That applies to life and bicycles alike.
Today’s topic is about upgrading your components from 10-speed to 11-speed: Is your favorite, long-cherished 10-speed wheelset now rendered unusable?

This long-loved factory-built wheelset is a "FULCRUM RACING ZERO," and this freehub body is not compatible with a road 11-speed cassette.

But look here: they actually make an 11-speed freehub body for this.
Not all hubs can be converted from a 10-speed to an 11-speed freehub body like this, but if you have a favorite set of 10-speed wheels and are wondering if you can upgrade the hub to 11-speed, it is definitely worth looking into.
Of course, if you bring your wheels or hubs in, we would be happy to check for you!! (This kind of job is exactly what we love doing!)

As for the work itself, it’s a simple process of removing the axle from the hub shell and swapping out the freehub body.

While we’ve got it taken apart, we might as well perform an overhaul by cleaning and regreasing the hub shell, axle, and bearings.

After that, we dial in the bearing preload, and the assembly is complete!
Now you can continue to enjoy your favorite wheels for a long time to come.
As I mentioned earlier, this isn't possible with every hub. If it doesn't work out, you’ll just have to give up...
Or so we wouldn't say!!
There are ways to make a 10-speed freehub body work with 11-speed gears!!
But that’s for the next blog post!
JUS signing off.
