Ride to Love! Space Boy CAFE

On Thursday, May 5th, we had a ride with over a dozen people for the first time in about a year.
Although it’s been nearly a month since then, I can still clearly recall the joy of that day, which was blessed with perfect cycling weather.

But more than just the "fun" of it, there was a feeling of "I'm so glad we did this" that outweighed everything else for me.
What I mean by "glad" is that on that day, people other than myself were able to make new connections.

Many of the people who gathered that day were invited directly by me. Some were old friends, while others were people I had only met a few times. In any case, for most of them, it was their first time meeting each other.

Seeing everyone not only making casual conversation during the ride but also exchanging contact information and social media handles during lunch made me think, "I'm really glad I organized this ride today."
Perhaps it was just my own self-satisfaction, but I was genuinely happy to see the circle of friends expanding, little by little, for sure.

And it goes without saying that even without me there, hearing that people who met that day are going on rides together makes me feel envious, but even more than that, it makes me incredibly happy.

Since we work in a shop, we have the opportunity to meet more people face-to-face than the average person. I believe that it is part of our purpose in being here to facilitate opportunities for fun, and to expand this "circle of people" by connecting those we think might hit it off.

The destination for this day's ride was Koi Shite! Uchu Shonen CAFE, which just opened on April 29th, the first day of Golden Week. It’s owned by the Yamamoto couple, whom I only came to know because of Circles and Culture Club.

The shocking name of the shop (you'll have to ask them about the origin when you visit!) might make you hesitate to stop by, but the food is delicious, and above all, the Yamamotos are such wonderful, approachable people that I highly encourage you to go. The artwork by YOSHI47 on the shop's exterior wall is also a must-see.

The shop is located in the Tsukude district of Shinshiro City, in the mountains bordering Toyota City. It’s an easy spot for cyclists in the Mikawa area to visit, and even if you aren't on a bike, it’s a great place to visit by car just to enjoy the abundant nature.

This time, we started from Korankei in Toyota City, climbed up to Otoga Pass, descended onto Route 420, and followed the Tomoe River from Mikawa Lake to the town of Asuke. As some of you may know, this is based on the route we used for the Gourmet Century Ride Asuke we held previously.
Looking back, it’s a pleasant route that we end up riding every year, and for now, it’s the best way to pass through Tsukude.

I’m not sure when we’ll have another ride like this, but if you’re interested in joining, please contact me directly!

And please, do make a trip to Koi Shite! Uchu Shonen CAFE!

The ride that day covered 91km with an elevation gain of 1,813m.
