The person behind the brand is Bob Scales, who works in marketing at CHRIS KING.
Before joining Chris King, Bob had a unique career path that included working for GIRO, surf brands, and numerous apparel manufacturers. Even within CK, he is known as a bit of a maverick; PRODUCT OF BOB SCALES is the brand he launched and manages himself.
What he creates are simple shirts rooted in the functionality of workwear. He collects high-quality textiles—natural materials like wool and cotton—that catch his eye, sourced not only from within the United States but sometimes from Japan as well. Each piece is crafted in American sewing factories in pursuit of his ideal.
He maintains a workshop in his home garage where he selects materials and handles patterning. After producing samples, he tailors the shirts at reliable factories with experienced staff.
With a background in music and art, Bob’s goal is to create gear—like tools you’d want to use forever. While the garments have a very plain and simple form, his touch refines the ruggedness inherent in traditional workwear, resulting in sustainable products that stand outside the influence of passing trends.
