The Case for Basket Bikes.

Last Tuesday, I went to our monthly futsal game. I rode my bike from work to the court in Shinsakae and worked up a good sweat.

It’s a community where we play with people we don’t usually get to see, and honestly, it doesn’t matter if you ride a bike or not. But for us, being able to easily bike there after work and mingle with all sorts of people makes #BikeToFutsal the quintessential urban pastime.

To be honest, since I played basketball all through elementary, middle, and high school, I’ve been secretly hoping to start a basketball club, but it's really hard to book a court... If anyone knows how to get a court, let me know!

Anyway, please feel free to join our monthly futsal games. By the way, the next one is on Wednesday, March 21 (a public holiday), starting at 8:00 PM. Since it’s our first time hosting on a holiday, I’m looking forward to meeting some new faces. Ask us at the shop if you're interested!

Oh, and I’ve been loving using the RAL / WB Loader lately to carry my shoes and change of clothes for futsal.

This tote-style bag is designed to fit the WALD / 137 Basket and is perfect for holding a change of clothes for occasions like this. It’s also great for commuting and shopping. You can, of course, just use it as a standard tote bag, but when combined with a WALD basket, it lets you zip through the city comfortably without having to carry a bag on your back.

On that note, I realized that all the bikes I own have drop bars, so I decided to install a basket recently.

This Hunter Cycles / Rough Rider is probably the bike I've spent the most time with. Since I’d been riding it with flat bars lately, I decided to go all-in and turn it into a commuter. With 28c tires, it’s been reborn as an "Urban Rough Rider" that can handle city bumps effortlessly while offering a comfortable ride.

If I were being greedy, I’d switch to a fork with eyelets, but for now, I’ve mounted the WALD using the SimWorks By Honjo / Road End Adapter. It’s originally meant for fenders, but I’m using it as a bit of a trick—telling myself not to carry anything too heavy.

Since you can head out for commutes and errands without wearing a bag, it’s a very reliable tool for the warmer season ahead. Why don't you try pairing a basket bike with a WB LOADER to make your daily rides more comfortable?
