We chose the TORAYA OVAL WIDE PANTS for our bespoke project
The OVAL WIDE PANTS, a masterpiece by TORAYA EQUIPMENT.
As the name suggests, the key feature of the OVAL WIDE PANTS is their unique, oval-shaped silhouette.
They offer a relaxed fit from the waist through the thighs, tapering gently toward the hem, striking an exquisite balance that feels wide without looking sloppy. Their three-dimensional cut makes movements like walking, squatting, climbing, and pedaling seamless.
They naturally adapt to activities like cycling, hiking, and running, offering both ease of movement and a flattering silhouette.
Working with this classic, we wondered: could we try something new with the OVAL WIDE PANTS?
While talking with Toshi-san from TORAYA, I asked, "Why don't we create something you've really wanted to make using a fabric you haven't used before?"
Considering they'd be used for outdoor activities, we knew we needed stretch and quick-drying properties. We also wanted to incorporate features useful for cycling. We wanted to make something "simple, functional, and universal."
After many discussions, we decided on a synthetic material TORAYA hadn't used yet: "ripstop stretch fabric!"
What is ripstop?
Ripstop fabric is a high-strength textile woven with thick, strong threads in a grid pattern. This structure enhances the fabric's durability, making it resistant to fraying and tearing.
Developed during World War II in the U.S. to reinforce military uniforms and parachutes, it was named "ripstop" because any tear is stopped by the grid structure.

A great result…!! Those who know the source of the design will recognize it: military training pants.
They feature a fresh silhouette not found in the original, plus reflectors on the back—a welcome addition for cyclists.

The TORAYA logo reflector adds a touch of softness, perfectly neutralizing the ruggedness of the overall look. It’s a well-balanced finish that feels contemporary.
With these reflectors, you can feel safe even at night.
*Please note: The fabric is extremely stretchy, so pulling it forcefully could cause the reflector to peel. Even if it peels off, the pants are still wonderful!

This elasticity is incredible.
Anyway, they are incredibly comfortable!!!
Whether you're pedaling or hiking up a mountain, that lack of resistance is a huge appeal.
I don't just cycle; I've been hiking recently too, and with non-stretchy pants, I always feel restricted around my legs. Especially on steep climbs, it becomes harder to move, which can be discouraging.
In that regard, these pants have so much stretch that you won't feel any of that anxiety or stress.
They don't hinder your leg movement whether you're pedaling or climbing, allowing you to move naturally. That ease of movement is a major plus when you're seriously active.
Plus, the dry-touch feel is excellent.
They don't get sticky even when you sweat, maintaining a smooth texture so you can stay comfortable during intense activity.
Additionally, we’ve included a drawcord at the hem so you can cinch it to prevent the pants from getting caught in the chainring while cycling—another gimmick cyclists will love!
You can also change the silhouette with this drawcord, allowing you to adjust the balance and style depending on your outfit or the activity of the day.
Wear them wide when you feel like it, or cinch the hem for a cleaner, sharper look.

Date & Time: Tuesday, September 23 Meeting Point: In front of the Toranomon Hills Station Tower plaza (please check the map below!)
Meeting Time: 9:00 AM
Capacity: 10 people (first-come, first-served basis)

Details: Meet at 9:00 AM in front of the Toranomon Station Hills bicycle parking area.
We will depart from Toranomon Hills, pass by the National Diet Building, head through Aoyama-dori, and ride along the cycling course around the Imperial Palace, passing by the Meiji Jingu Gaien and Yasukuni Shrine, before having Coffee Outside on the grass area in front of the Imperial Palace!!
The ride itself will take about an hour and a half, so please feel free to join us regardless of experience level!
Things to bring: Bicycle (not needed if you wish to test ride), helmet (we can provide a loaner if you consult with us beforehand), and clothing suitable for exercise/cycling. A pure heart that obeys traffic rules.
