[First Aid Workshop for Cyclists] Announcement

Hello, hi, and greetings! It’s Chan-Mai!

This summer was hot... no, it was intense.
Now that it’s September, the sweltering tropical nights have started to subside, but did you all have a hot summer?

Past times have a tendency to feel beautiful in retrospect, but one memory I can say for sure was truly intense was OMM BIKE. After all, it was my first time participating.

OMM BIKE is an adventure-style race where you navigate a map to find checkpoints scattered around an area, working as a team to compete for the best time and highest point total. There is OMM BIKE for cycling and OMM LITE for running, both allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the great outdoors of Hakuba Village, Nagano Prefecture.

I really want everyone who likes riding bikes to try an event like this; it’s guaranteed to be fun. Absolutely, positively guaranteed!

However, when you actually think about participating in an event or going on a trip, don't you ever feel a tinge of anxiety?

"What if something happens...?"

Accidents can inevitably happen during a ride. Bicycles can take you anywhere as long as your stamina lasts, but when you venture just a little further from your usual comfort zone, having an accident can really wear you down.

Things you can do now to be prepared are:
・First aid for personal injury
・Emergency repairs for bicycle trouble

Mastering these two points is the first step toward a worry-free ride. Plus, being able to quickly handle an accident—whether your own or that of a friend or passerby—is just cool!

So, I planned an event about this with Ino-c from POT, a friend of Circles!

First Aid Workshop

Date & Time: Friday, Sept 27th, 19:00-21:00
   Saturday, Sept 28th, 16:00-18:00

Physical First Aid

We are inviting Yoshinobu Takagi—a nurse, Vivobarefoot Japan trainer, and outdoor enthusiast—as our instructor. He will share his experiences while teaching first aid knowledge and techniques. He will also introduce items you should carry in your first aid kit.

・What is First Aid?
・About Infection
・How to treat wounds
・Scenario training for common accidents and injuries in the mountains
・How to use a triangular bandage
・Reviewing the contents of your first aid kit

Bicycle First Aid

We will learn about emergency bike repairs from Daisaku-senpai at CULTURE CLUB, a Circles sister store that deals in used bikes and parts. He will lecture on the structure of various parts with demonstrations and introduce the necessary tools.

・Common Troubles
・How to handle a broken or snapped rear derailleur
・How to handle a snapped shift cable
・Q&A

※Both days will cover the same content. There will also be a social gathering at EARLYBIRDS BREAKFAST for about an hour after the workshop.

This is the first seminar we've held at Circles in a while. It’s a return to the ABCs of everything.

I want to have fun riding my bike, I want to go further,
I want to participate in events like that.

Thinking deeply about those desires, I arrived at the importance of "learning the basics."

Through this workshop, I hope to help participants "acquire the knowledge and techniques" to make bicycle adventures safer and more secure by learning—or returning to—the basics.

And beyond that, I hope you will experience how your cycling becomes freer and your world expands.
Let’s learn together!!
