On Wednesday, I headed to Kyoto for CatEye's new product launch. I managed to get some information on their new cycle computer there!
CatEye “STRADA SMART CC-RD500B” Estimated price: 8,000 yen (excluding tax), scheduled for release around June.
Since CatEye already has the STRADA WIRELESS, a staple wireless model, you might think at first glance that nothing has changed, but this version is Bluetooth Smart compatible. Along with it, Bluetooth-compatible speed/cadence sensors and a heart rate sensor will also be released.
For those who have been using GPS features on their smartphones for apps like Strava, many have probably struggled with rapid battery drain, right? With this STRADA SMART, you can keep your smartphone in your pocket with GPS running, connect via Bluetooth, and monitor everything on the cycle computer screen. This prevents battery drain on your phone, and it also notifies you on the cycle computer display when you receive a call or email, so you can ride with peace of mind. (Though, many people might prefer not to worry about phone calls or emails while out on a ride...)
When it comes to wireless technology, the ANT+ standard has been the norm, but it seems Bluetooth is set to become the new standard. It's scheduled for release around June, so look forward to it.
Then, I returned to Nagoya in the evening for a garage sale!
Despite the short notice, many people showed up.
Some even brought work gloves to dig through the junk bins. They were the real winners.
There were even some surprise "B-grade" items put up for sale midway through, so those who managed to grab one at the right time were very lucky!
We'll hold another one when you least expect it, so stay tuned!
And the final night of TRIPLEBIRDS was a huge success!
It was like this the whole time, with a huge line. Thank you to everyone who waited in the cold!
And finally, I got to have some myself. The meat miso was incredibly delicious.
Thank you, Keita-shi and Imai-san!
