From Friday, September 29th, to Sunday, October 1st, we will be hosting a three-day POP UP STORE for tade qui, a handmade manufacturer where the creator himself crafts cycling-related products for "enthusiast" cyclists.
Throughout this period, we invite Mr. Takuya Hosokawa, a true cyclist who handles the design and production of every single product, to share not only the details of his gear but perhaps even the secret stories behind their creation directly with all of you.
Mr. Hosokawa’s way of speaking is incredibly polite, yet carries an immensely high level of passion. His calm expression and voice are also captivating. We hope many of you will come and experience for yourselves the passion he holds for his products, and the details he shares with a gentle, yet sharp-eyed, demeanor.
As our profession is customer service, we aim to act as thorough advocates for our customers, representing not only handmade products but also those from major manufacturers. The same applies to tade qui’s products, but at our first POP UP STORE held last March, we fell in love not just with the products, but with the maker, Mr. Hosokawa himself.
While we certainly fulfill our role as advocates, if there is an opportunity to purchase directly from the maker, we truly don't want you to miss it.
During the event, you can see the products usually found on our shelves, as well as many items specially crafted for this occasion. He will also be bringing materials that aren't typically in the lineup, so you can place special orders as well.
I’ll say it again: please make sure you don’t miss this opportunity!!!
tade qui product lineup
tade qui has a diverse product lineup, and here are a few highlights.
Finally, please take a moment to read about the tade qui brand. And, we look forward to seeing you at Circles this weekend. Thank you very much!
What’s tade qui???
Chapter1: There is no accounting for tastes.
There is a Japanese proverb: "Tade kuu mushi mo sukizuki" (There are even bugs that eat knotweed). Just as there are bugs that purposely choose to eat bitter and pungent knotweed, this proverb means that people's tastes are diverse. tade qui produces bikepacking bags for the "enthusiast" cyclist.
There are many ways to enjoy cycling.
Sometimes you may enjoy pure riding, and at other times you may enjoy loading up your favorite gear for camping, fishing, or a coffee ride.
What will you do on your bike?
What will you put in your bag?
tade qui satisfies your "enthusiast" and "curious" needs.
Chapter2: Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.
Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.
tade qui produces bikepacking bags for cyclists with good taste. We imagine many of them ride beautiful, handmade steel bikes.
A beautiful bike deserves a beautiful bag.
Ease of use is certainly important, but tade qui believes that "presence" is even more important. Is there harmony with the bike? Does the gear fit beautifully? Is the bag itself beautiful? These are the things tade qui is committed to.
Chapter3: Love is what makes you good at things.
"Practice makes perfect" (or: "Loving what you do makes you good at it").
"The balance between design and function" ...
This is achieved through specifications and patterns suited to the purpose, optimal materials, and careful sewing; however, many manufacturers seek efficiency and divide the production process into fine divisions of labor.
tade qui is a "cottage industry" where all these tasks are done by one person. The minimum requirement for creating good products is respect for bicycle culture and the accumulation of knowledge that comes with it. Because he loves it, he experiments, remakes prototypes many times over, and repeats test rides to refine the product.
Because it goes through such an extremely inefficient process, he can only produce a very limited quantity, and the price is by no means cheap. In terms of sewing equipment, material development, and procurement, he cannot compete with major manufacturers. There are many cheap, high-performance bags in the world.
If there is any meaning in choosing tade qui, it lies in the depth of love for bikes and bike culture (it may even be an obsession).
