Izu.
A land surrounded by the sea, backed by deep mountains, where you can also enjoy fresh seafood and hot springs.
It’s about a five-hour drive from Nagoya, which is by no means close, but that is exactly why it holds the charm of an unexplored region for those who make the journey. That is why many of our staff are captivated by Izu.
Based in Matsuzaki Town on the west side of Izu, [YAMABUSHI TRAIL TOUR], which maintains old mountain paths to host trail tours, is taking on a new challenge.
While their activities are based on mountain biking, they have decided to launch a new style of accommodation, [LODGE MONDE], by renovating a closed pension in Nishi-izu Town, Shizuoka Prefecture. It will serve as a hub to enjoy this magnificent area—accessible for those seeking an escape not only via bicycles, but also cars, motorbikes, surfing, fishing, hiking, and various other activities—while functioning as a center for local information and as a local media outlet!
They are currently preparing for a pre-opening this summer, and a crowdfunding campaign to support the renovation costs is now underway.
From forest maintenance to mountain bike tours, processing and reusing felled timber in various forms, and expanding their role as a hub for traveling around West Izu and the Izu Peninsula—you can't take your eyes off their actions as they work to "keep the mountains moving."
We at Circles are already planning what we might do when we rent the whole place out!
We kindly ask for your support!
