What is the “JCMC (Japan Cycle Messenger Championship)“, you ask?
Messengers active all across the country will gather at the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse to hold this national championship.
With the “CMWC (Cycle Messenger World Championship)” already confirmed to be held in the same Yokohama next year, this event serves as a “prelude.” It’s a high-energy, 120% excitement event where messengers from all over the country compete in delivery races, cargo bike races, and more to show off their daily skills!
There will also be fixed-gear criterium races and bicycle schools for children, so I truly hope it becomes a lively place where anyone can participate and everyone can have fun!
We at Circles will also be making an appearance at the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse with our own booth and sponsorship!!
Since it’s been a while since we’ve had a booth at an event, I’m feeling a bit nervous (sweat), but I’m just going to focus on having a great time and promoting Circles to all the attendees!
I’m currently brainstorming what products to showcase at the booth. I’ll be bringing plenty of items, so look forward to it!

Messenger Professional Culture
A “messenger” is a professional who uses a bicycle to zip through urban areas at top speed, performing all kinds of deliveries.
Messengers don’t get off their bikes due to the weather; they have packages to deliver to someone every single day, continue their work sincerely to earn the trust of their clients, and never forget to enjoy doing it.
Due to economic downturns and the shift toward paperless operations, work decreased for a time, but in this era where the presence of bicycles is essential and delivery efficiency is needed by society, we can continue to look forward to a bright future for messengers, who are gaining attention once again.
With those hopes, messengers have joined hands, and even when event planning was postponed due to the pandemic, they looked only forward, leading to the holding of JCMC 2022 Yokohama for the first time in about two years.

Race Contents!!
Now, I’d like to give you a rough overview of the various race contents that no one can predict yet!
Delivery Race
This race mimics the daily work of a messenger. Many riders will hold a manifest (a delivery list) and repeatedly pick up and deliver items from various checkpoints set up on a closed course, competing based on points for deliveries made within the time limit and the total time taken to complete all deliveries.
Cargo Bike Race
Just as highly anticipated as the delivery race, this competition showcases the mobility and carrying capacity of bicycles that can handle large items, with riders competing to see how much they can deliver within the time limit.
※Entries for both open on Saturday, October 22nd at 7:00 PM.

YOKOHAMA CRIT
A criterium race testing sprinting power, using fixed-gear bicycles which share a deep connection with messengers. I think you’ll be able to see a race so full of speed that you won’t have time to blink on the closed circuit set up at the Red Brick Warehouse.
By the way, Uno-chan will also be competing in the criterium race!! I was only left with feelings of regret after the last race, so I want to give it my all and have a gutsy race this time so I can explode with energy. I’d appreciate your support!
※Entries for this open on Saturday, October 29th at 9:00 PM.
Culture Contents!!
The fact that it’s not just about racing might be one of the highlights of this event!
MESS GAME
A staple of messenger world championships, this is a sub-event primarily featuring trick riding on fixed-gear bikes. I look forward to not just messengers, but also kids who think “I’m the one for tricks!” coming together to express just how fun fixed-gear bikes can be.
SCHOOL & SHOW
The twins Yukio and Naoki Yoshida—whom many of you will recognize as BMX riders—will be appearing to hold a BMX school!
Children can participate from age 4, and adults are of course very welcome. You’ll surely be able to fully enjoy and feel the charm that only BMX can provide.
MARKET & FOOD
In the space within the venue outside of the race course, we have everything ready for you to enjoy, including a market featuring event partners and supporters, creators with deep ties to messengers, and food from food trucks, so please take your time to look around and enjoy a meal.
See you in Yokohama!
We at Circles are looking forward to the chance to have a booth at the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse, and we can’t wait to meet everyone who attends.
I’m sure we’ll see staff and athletes, as well as people experiencing a bicycle event for the first time. In the midst of all that, we want to prepare well so we can fully enjoy ourselves and help energize Yokohama!
JCMC is an event that continues to conduct planning and management that leads to regional development, and it’s an event that can give energy to everyone involved in the bicycle industry, not just the messenger industry. We would be overjoyed if you could come down to Yokohama, not only from within the city but from all over the country!
We’ll be waiting for you at the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse & Park on Saturday, November 19th—ready and raring to go!
Please be careful on your way there, everyone!
