With summer just around the corner, we have finally entered the long-awaited Golden Week.
In conjunction with the Circles Golden Week Ride that I mentioned the other day, I would like to host a 100km Fixed Gear Ride on Wednesday, May 4, 2022!

Date: Wednesday, May 4, 2022 (Public Holiday)
Meeting Time: 9:00 AM
Meeting Point: In front of Inuyama Castle [google map]
Please make sure to have your breakfast and snacks ready before arrival.Fee: Free (Costs for food, transportation, and bicycle train bags are your own responsibility)
Destination: Gero City, Gifu Prefecture
Required Items: Fixed gear bicycle, bicycle bag (rinko bag), helmet, repair tools, and items for the hot springs
Itinerary: We will depart from Inuyama Castle, head north along the Kiso and Hida rivers, stop at roadside stations for lunch, and aim for the Gero Onsen district. Afterward, we plan to head home from Gero Station by taking our bikes on the train.Notes: Cancelled in case of bad weather.

* I would appreciate it if those planning to attend could let me know so I can keep track of the number of people.
Some might think, "100km on a fixed gear!?", but it's actually really fun when you try it, and the sense of accomplishment after you finish is incredible!
I once participated in a 100km Fixed ride organized in 2019 by my senior and Culture Club owner, Kamo-san. The initial description was "Inuyama Start / Takayama Finish 100km Fixed," but when we actually rode it, my head was spinning with question marks. When it was all said and done, it turned out to be a brutal mountain training ride covering 135km with 1,126m of elevation gain. By the time we reached Takayama, my legs were on the verge of cramping, but it was such a fun ride where we all helped each other out and finished without a single person giving up!
This time, I’m indulging my own selfish request to "soak in a hot spring," so the plan is to ride about 100km from Inuyama to Gero Onsen.
