[Magazine Feature] Go Out Fishing Club / BikeToFishing

I’d like to introduce the latest August issue of GO OUT, which was released last week and features our work.

I was invited to cooperate as a guest for their popular monthly segment, the GO OUT Fishing Club, to take on the challenge of "BikeToFishing!"

For this shoot, we approached a mountain stream by bicycle to take full advantage of a bike's mobility. I was joined by a star-studded trio from the GO OUT Fishing Club: Ryuya-san, Daisuke-san of NERDY MOUNTAIN WORKS, and Yoshi-kun, a.k.a. Yoshi47.

Between the heavy-hitting lineup and the fact that it was my first time visiting the area, I headed to the site with a mix of excitement and anxiety about whether we’d actually manage to catch any fish.

Whether it's for a ride or otherwise, there's just something exciting about visiting a new place, right?
I got advice on this area from my mentor, ceramicist (and "fishing artist") Oe-san, and thanks to scouting out a bike approach route in advance, we were able to enter the stream smoothly.

It’s a classic fisherman trait, but once we started fishing, we all got so caught up in the moment that we completely forgot we were there for a photoshoot... the fun time just flew by. As a result, I don't have any other photos (lol).

So, let's take a look at the gear. Since Ryuya-san’s son "confiscated" his bike (lol), he rented my SKLAR for this trip. Yoshi-kun didn't have a bike suited for forest road approaches, so he rode a Doppo ATB fully kitted out with bags from Tadequi.

Daisuke-san is a regular enthusiast of BikeToFishing and joined us with his own bike—a classic GT Tachyon with a triangle frame, assembled in a really cool way. We actually featured this bike on with BICYCLE, so be sure to check that out as well.

I love the time spent back at the car after fishing, just relaxing and chatting with everyone about our catches and gear. The VACILAND cooler I had packed in the car was a huge help that day, too.

Oh, and in case you’re wondering about the actual catch? You’ll have to check the magazine to see!

The GO OUT Fishing Club also posted a video to their YouTube channel, so please be sure to check that out as well!
