Since its release last November, the DEFENDER SHIRT from RAL By DEEPER’S WEAR has been very well received by many.
The concept behind DEEPER’S WEAR’s Defender products is to defend against the cold using thin, insulating cotton fabric. However, for this RAL-exclusive version, we requested that only the front panel be quilted with that fabric, allowing for an active, everyday lifestyle centered around cycling.
I’ve been reaching for this piece constantly this winter—either layered over various garments or as a mid-layer—but it’s also a very versatile item for early spring, so I’d like to introduce it once again!
Taka is wearing his layered over an OMM Rotor Vest. This style is perfect for this time of year when mornings and evenings are still chilly. You might be curious about the details of the Doppo bike that finally got built up, but stay tuned for a blog post about that coming soon.
Here’s the go-to trail riding style for Yanak, the stylish leader of SimWorks. By throwing it over the Berthe by Cafe Du Cycliste, he stays comfortable even during rides with significant changes in body temperature.
Kim-niisan from DEEPER’S WEAR, the evangelist of "life specs," also seemed to be enjoying it on the trail. Thanks to the durable heavy flannel fabric, there’s absolutely no worry about it tearing if it catches on a tree branch, which makes me feel it has great potential for trail riding and dirt touring styles. The ease of use that comes from such low-tech fabric is the secret to why it lasts so long.
Also, size 3, the smallest size, looks really cute on women when worn in a relaxed, boyish way. Here is how it looks on Nishi-pan, the cheerful spirit of Alleycat.
All the models are wearing the Enji (dark red) version, but it comes in three colors: Enji, Karashi (mustard yellow), and Aiiro (indigo blue). Find your personal favorite! In the coming season, you can wear it over a thin cut-and-sew or a merino wool base layer, and as it gets even warmer, you can layer it over a T-shirt. It’s a very long-lasting staple item that you can keep wearing through early April, or until temperatures hit nearly 20°C. We hope you enjoy coordinating it for your everyday life, rides, and various other activities!
