【Circles Tokyo】Girls Ride in Tokyo to be held on Sunday, May 10th!

As mentioned the other day, our event in May.
This is a first for Circles, so I am very much looking forward to it.

Among the activities mentioned was the "Girls Ride."

Even though we only announced the dates, we received far more entries than we imagined, and the response has already exceeded our capacity…!

Therefore, we have decided to increase the number of spots slightly. To everyone who has already entered, thank you so much!

And today, I’m bringing you the ride details that everyone has been waiting for.

…but first.

Before we get into the planning for this ride, I’d like to introduce some people without whom it wouldn’t be possible.

Nagoya women's staff and maybe a special guest too!?

The "Girls Ride" is held regularly at Circles in Nagoya.

It’s a popular event centered around Nagoya women's staff members Chanmai, Da-chan, and Erichin-san, and of course, those three will be coming to Tokyo for this Tokyo version!!

If you read the Circles blog, you already know that all three of them are overflowing with love for bicycles and are incredibly kind, so even if you're meeting them for the first time, you’ll be able to hit it off in an instant.

Furthermore, along with the Circles women's staff, we have a special guest this time.

Special guest Miyako-san

Miyako

Mountain climbing, trail running, triathlons, stream fishing, and mountain skiing. Enjoying the outdoors year-round and traveling both domestically and internationally is her life's work.
Alongside her involvement in local food and cultural branding and creative work, she is a contributor to "PAPERSKY" and supports ride tours. On her days off in Tokyo, she spends her time relaxing by leisurely cycling to cafes, shops, and art exhibitions with friends.

I was wondering, is there anyone who knows every way for women in Tokyo to enjoy cycling...?
Just as I was thinking about that, I caught wind of rumors that there was a cyclist who knows all the hot spots in Tokyo. I immediately reached out, and Miyako-san gladly agreed!

For this ride, we carefully selected from the vast amount of shops and routes Miyako-san knows and planned the event together with the Nagoya staff and Miyako-san herself.

It’s packed with content to help you fully enjoy the streets of Tokyo by bike, so let’s get right into the details.

Ride Details☕

We will gather at 10:00 AM in front of the Toranomon Hills Station Tower plaza.

From Toranomon Hills, we’ll pass by the Imperial Palace and head first to the University of Tokyo’s Hongo Campus!

Our first destination is Baisenjo Cafe located within the Hongo campus.

The shop is located on the first floor of the University of Tokyo Hospital South Research Building on campus. While currently used as a research facility, the building was once used as an actual hospital, and you can still see remnants of that past here and there.

It’s not often you get to enter a university, so let’s enjoy lunch while soaking in the student vibe. Plus, it's the University of Tokyo... that's pretty exciting, isn't it?

After lunch, we’ll take a quick stroll around the campus and head to our next destination: Yanaka Ginza Shopping Street.

Yanaka Ginza is a shopping street near Nippori Station where about 60 shops line a street that stretches for about 170 meters. It’s a popular spot that retains a strong, retro, Showa-era downtown atmosphere.

You can enjoy the view from the famous "Yuyake Dandan" stairs, check out cat-themed goods, and go on a food crawl of local side dishes.

Here, we’ll hop off our bikes and take it easy walking through the shopping street. Grab some snacks, do some shopping—let’s enjoy it at our own pace.

After we've had our fill, we’ll return to Toranomon.

Overall, it will be a relaxed, peaceful ride. It’s content that even those who don’t ride bicycles very often can enjoy casually.

I’m sure it will be a day that makes you feel, “I didn’t know there were so many ways to enjoy cycling.”☕
