【Participants Wanted】BIKE to Giant Carp Streamer & RUST OUT

A series that’s becoming a personal passion project: riding bikes to see Japan’s traditional festivals, #BIKEto祭. This time, for a ride hosted by Circles Tokyo, we’re heading to the “Giant Carp Streamers” in Kazo, Saitama Prefecture.

Giant carp streamers… You might think it’s just another small-town revitalization event, but their staggering size will blow your mind. Locals jokingly say that the streamers are about all the town has, but once you go this big, it becomes one of the most photogenic Golden Week events around. I even include it in my homemade festival calendar every year.

So, we’re looking for anyone who’d like to join us for the ride as a fellow enthusiast. Let’s enjoy exploring the route and getting a little lost along the way. (No support provided; participants must be self-sufficient.)

Leading the ride is Kako, a guru who tirelessly explores the Arakawa and roads throughout the Kanto region, bringing the #ArakawaOutback riding concept to life day after day. He’s also a ride director for various Bike Lore events.

RUST OUT

This ride is being held to coincide with the CYCLE CLOAK bike parking service CYCLE CLOAK at an event taking place in Saitama on May 4.

The event, being held for the first time, is called RUST OUT. It’s a multifaceted bike event featuring a fixed-gear criterium on a kart track, an obstacle race for geared bikes, a custom bike show, and more. The venue, Saitama Kart Park, is a unique building that’s been used for various film and photo shoots. This one looks like it’ll be quite photogenic too. Entries are now open!
