"Ugh, I'm so frustrated!" This was the phrase my wife let slip on the final day of our summer vacation trip to Busan. I thought, "Huh? What do you mean?" but the answer was simple and clear: she just wanted to eat so much more of everything... and I couldn't agree more.

The main purpose of the trip was the food, so we had no other plans. We just walked the streets, visited scenic spots, and spent our time consuming calories under the guise of sightseeing. (We certainly enjoyed ourselves, of course.)

Since it was the height of the August heat, our go-to style was a T-shirt, shorts, and BEDROCK SANDALS’ Cairn on our feet. Simply put, for the Yanase family, BEDROCK SANDALS’ Cairn is an essential, not just for outdoor activities, but for traveling as well.
At Village Green Market & Ride

BEDROCK SANDALS’ Cairn is perfect for walking, running, and of course, cycling. I haven’t had the chance to wear them on any serious rides lately, but I made sure to pedal in my Cairn when I participated in the Village Green Market & Ride organized by EIRIN Marutamachi / Cycle Hatena in Kyoto recently.

Several routes were offered, but since we market vendors had to prepare for the event after the ride, we took a shorter course. Even so, it was a solid ride, covering about 50km with an elevation gain of approximately 1000m.

There were dozens of vendors, making for a truly fun ride, and I was happy to see so many people wearing BEDROCK SANDALS.

Including the general participants, there were so many people wearing them that I lost count. I really wanted to take photos of everyone who was wearing them, but that turned out to be impossible.

And it was incredibly heartwarming to see just how much everyone loves their BEDROCK SANDALS.
Once you start wearing them, you just can’t stop—I guess that’s something we all have in common.

With the weather gradually cooling down, I imagine more people are heading out in their Mountain Clogs, but I’m sure there are still plenty of folks who plan to keep playing in their Cairns for a while longer.
And I’m sure there are also people out there wondering, "Should I buy some Cairns even now?" For those people, I recommend our previous-model Cairns, which are now available at a more accessible price. Please be sure to check out our lineup.

By the way, the Village Green Market & Ride I participated in this time is a composite event that combines riding, a market, and camping, skillfully utilizing the unique environment of Kyoto where the city and the mountains are right next to each other.

It’s a special experience you can’t find anywhere else: enjoying a ride, eating delicious food, and picking up items from brands you’ve had your eye on.

Also, the fact that all the market vendors participate in the ride—even if on different routes—creates a strong sense of unity among everyone there, which is something unique to this event. I definitely want to participate and set up a shop again next year!
