Just when I thought it had gotten cold, it suddenly turned warm, and when I let my guard down, biting winds came rushing in—I can truly feel winter fast approaching. But that’s right, before you know it, next weekend is our Anniversary Party. And before the party, we have a selection of rides planned with the Circles members. There’s no more talking about whether it’s cold or hot; there’s nothing left to do but get outside and have a blast on our bikes.
So, before I introduce my top-recommended event, let’s review the anniversary rides on this blog. It seems some events already have very few spots left, so if you’re still undecided, please hurry!
What do you think? Have you decided? Every ride really highlights the personality of its host staff, making it hard to choose, but did you notice something among them? Actually, there is one ride that you can participate in alongside other rides, or jump straight into the night party once you’re done. That is...

The Hayakawa Cup is essentially a point race through the city.
Using a map/manifest provided by Captain Hayakawa that lists checkpoints, you ride your bike around the city of Nagoya to compete for points. The race starts when the party begins, and the awards ceremony will be held during the party. One of the best parts is that when everyone returns, we can toast with some truly delicious drinks. By the way, there’s a rumor that we’re gathering some extravagant prizes for this race...

When you hear "race," you might imagine speed, but Circles’ point race relies more on your curiosity and desire to know the city you spend your time in.
"I remember there was a slight uphill after turning at that intersection," "This street has too many traffic lights, so I’ll take the side street," "I'm pretty sure there was a footbridge where we could shortcut that main road," and so on. It’s all about how much you can pull from your memory of the city’s landscape and how well you can sharpen your senses to pick up the vibe of where a checkpoint might be hidden.

For those who live in Nagoya or visit often on their days off, it’s a fun way to realize that the city you ride through casually is overflowing with things you thought you knew but didn't. And for our long-distance Circles lovers who are traveling just for our 18th-anniversary party, it doubles as a fun night cruise where you can experience a different side of the city than usual.

Besides teaming up with friends or family, another fun way to participate is to follow someone who gives off an aura of knowing Nagoya inside and out, and hitting the checkpoints together.

What’s more, the Hayakawa Cup accepts day-of entries, so if you didn't get enough riding in during the day, or you’re just too hyped up right before the party, definitely join us! If you’re already feeling the spirit and thinking, "Of course I’m in!!," don't forget to pre-register using the red button at the bottom of the blog.
