As I briefly announced on Instagram the other day, Circles will be celebrating its 13th anniversary on December 1st.
This is all thanks to everyone who visits the shop, those of you supporting us from afar via the internet, and everyone who joins us at our various events to hang out and have fun.
We are truly grateful!! Thank you so much!!!
Driven by a desire to share this overflowing sense of gratitude with you all, we will be hosting our anniversary party again this year. The venue will be our home base at Circles, just like last year.
Circles 13th Anniv. PARTY
DATE: December 1st (Sun) 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM
LOCATION: Circles
ENTRY: ¥2,000 (1 Drink included)
On the day of the event, please enter through the 2nd-floor reception, where there will be an entry fee of ¥2,000 (1 drink included).
This year, in addition to our usual festivities, we have put a lot of effort into the food. After all, you want to eat delicious things at a party, right!?
First up, takoyaki by our star new hire at Early Birds, Fuwa-chan!! Let's see how her past experience working at a takoyaki shop translates here!
Next is California rolls by the talented chef and boss of SimWorks USA, Liebow!! You know those are going to be good.
And then there's the craft cola made by Kantoku a.k.a. motnorm—who we’ve come to rely on as a designer for RAL at Circles, and who I personally rely on as a skating buddy—called MOTOCOLA. Since it’s made by someone with such an obsession for quality, it really is delicious. Seriously.
And finally, our big headliner!! We’ve asked Gori-san, the owner of the hidden gem Iegorico (it's tucked away in the back, really!), located in Yabacho between Sakae and Osu, to provide our main meal.
When I visited the other day, the place was packed, drawn in by Gori-san’s character and delicious cooking. And don't start saying I just wanted to eat his food myself! The intensity of my desire for you all to try it is what led to this collaboration. For those who haven't been yet, this anniversary party is the perfect excuse to head over there!!
This year, each of our staff members has also brought back hand-picked local sake from the places they visited during this year's RIDEALIVE, so please enjoy a glass or two—perhaps your own personal RIDEALIVE will come to a perfect close that night. As for the RIDEALIVE Yamanashi event that was postponed due to the weather god's decree, please keep your expectations high and wait for it!
We are currently planning a variety of activities for the party this year as well.
★ Disc Jockey
Music is the one thing essential for any party, and I’ve entrusted it to three DJs I believe in.
In addition to our regulars, DJ Don’t be shy and Izuru Shimazaki from Daisy Messenger, I invited a grad student DJ I spotted riding a Surly Steamroller, and they accepted right away! I reached out after remembering them reacting to the new Haruomi Hosono record we were playing in the shop. I’m sure the wide range of their combined selections will create some real chemical reactions at the party!!
★ Reflector Workshop
A reflector workshop by Kotaro-san, the representative of the plant shop TUMBLEWEED, which has its shop in Nakamura-ku on the west side of Nagoya Station. We are currently working out the details, but his products have a certain foresight that gradually grows on you!! The things you make at the workshop will definitely help keep you safe on the road at night!!
★ Photo Session Studio
When you think of an official RIDEALIVE photographer, this is the one! We’re opening a special photo studio by 2komat ERI, who can make even a crying child smile once they look through the viewfinder! Grab a two-shot with that special someone to get a jump on Christmas!!! Of course, it’s also great for a warm family photo or a memory with friends.
★ Kids & Ladies Virtual Bike Race
After hearing people say that serious men pedaling away isn't fitting for an anniversary party—and that they don't even want to watch it—we’re doing a mock cycling race for kids and women instead. Expect great prizes!! After all, Circles is known for being kind to kids and women.
★ Sphere Life Consultation Booth
Following the rumors that he opened new doors for those who were lost at the recent TEKIYA BROTHERS event, Circles boss Shinya Tanaka will be holding life consultations. Just like the philosophy here at Circles, let him shatter your preconceived notions!!
