Yesterday, I headed to the mountains with Aliya’s shop owner, Jazz & Taka, and Ega-chan from CRC.
After the shop owner woke up early to prepare clam chowder, sandwiches, and coffee, we heaved our bikes up the dirt trail. Upon reaching the summit, we were rewarded with a stunning view and a delicious meal. We spent the day lounging, napping, and chatting about this and that before heading back down.
We’ve been enjoying mountain riding for a long time (especially lately—well, there are some places you just can’t ride a road bike in the winter, right?). It’s not about going fast; to me, the real joy of mountain cycling is the dialogue you have with nature and the bike you’re riding. Everyone gathers with different setups—full-suspension, hardtail, or rigid—but regardless of the specs, we all arrive at the same destination: the All-Terrain Bike.
Wilderness Trail Bikes, or WTB for short, is the perfect choice for enhancing that ATB vibe.
WTB has been crafting mountain bike parts in California since 1982, and they remain a beloved manufacturer even after more than 20 years. Their saddles, in particular, possess a functional beauty within their rugged aesthetic, and they continue to create products that you can truly love for a long time. It’s a fact that not long ago, Surly’s complete bikes almost exclusively featured WTB saddles. Good things, after all, remain good.
We’ve just received a large shipment of their classic saddle models!
Among the many models, the Rocket V is the most versatile.
With just the right amount of volume, it pairs perfectly with any bike, from road and cyclocross bikes to mountain bikes. It’s the WTB standard that even world champions trust, and it’s easy to see why.
This one has a similar shape to the Rocket V, but with a slightly larger silhouette and increased cushioning, making it perfect for mountain bikes. Once you sit on this, you won’t want to go back to any other saddle. That’s why I call it the “cushion saddle.” While designed for mountain bikes, I definitely recommend it for touring and commuter bikes as well.
WTB “Silverado Pro” color:Black,White ¥9,345
Finally, the Silverado, which has a sleeker look than the two models above. I recommend this for road and cyclocross bikes. Despite its slim profile, the seating surface is generous, ensuring a stable ride.
Give it a try—you won't be disappointed! (Some of our staff bikes are equipped with these, so feel free to test them out.)
