Truly Handmade in Portland…

Truce Designs from Truce Designs on Vimeo.

Portland is a land rich in nature that serves not only as a base for cycle manufacturers like Chris King and Cielo, but also as the birthplace of outdoor brands like Columbia and Danner.

Truce bags are made in Portland by a man named Luke Mathers, who enjoys all kinds of fields from the sea to the mountains—not just cycling, but also backcountry, trekking, sailing, and surfing.

The key is the use of sailcloth (the material used for yacht sails). In the yacht racing scene, sails are replaced annually, so they are swapped for new ones after a year, no matter how good their condition is. He makes use of this high-quality leftover sailcloth to craft his bags. These fabrics are light, tough, and, of course, highly water-resistant; you will feel just how surprisingly light the finished bags are the moment you pick one up.

We also have items overflowing with warmth that use wool fabric from Pendleton and Woolrich.
Of course, the back is made of nylon, so even though it’s getting warmer, you can still use them throughout the spring.

I have been using one myself for a long time, and it has been great for my daily commute, travel, and occasional trail rides. (Though it’s so beat up, I’m embarrassed to show it to you...)
I hope you will pick one up and see the quality for yourself.
