We have long carried bags, socks, and caps on our second floor from "Strawfoot," a workshop based in Santa Cruz.
The maker, Garrett Kautz, is young but creates products by hand in a workshop he shares with friends, all while being a dedicated family man to his wife and their newborn. He has a deep connection with Rick Hunter and is a truly trustworthy nice guy and an ally of ours.
Of course, he is also a cyclist, and many of you likely remember the Hunter Disc Cross he rides.
Strawfoot's main product line consists of bags that make the most of materials like leather and cotton canvas. They are simple, thoughtful in design, and full of his kindness—the kind of goods you can love for a long time.
Strawfoot “Road Wrap” ¥5,500 (excl. tax)
The Road Wrap we are introducing this time is a compact seat bag made from "waxed canvas" and "natural leather," both of which are frequently used in Strawfoot items. You can carry your road riding essentials by wrapping them inside and strapping the bag to your seat. While it won't hold a ton of gear, there is something to be said for keeping your cargo minimal and your mind clear when you head out for a ride.
You can enjoy the way the leather straps develop a rich patina and the fabric gathers wrinkles—the personality of the bag changes the more you use it.
Quantities are limited, so get yours soon.
The included instructions have good vibes, too.
We have also received a shipment of summer socks.
Strawfoot “Summer Socks” ¥2,400 (excl. tax)
These merino wool blend socks use DeFeet's "Wooleator" as a base, but they are finished so thinly you wouldn't even guess it. They are great for summer, not just spring and fall. The design is simple and unpretentious yet distinctly Strawfoot. By creating these original socks, he shows he truly understands that style starts from the feet up—which just proves he’s a nice guy indeed.
