The cross season has finally begun. I wouldn't say I'm fully prepared yet, but after overhauling the Hunter CX that I’ll be using again this season, my main bike is ready to go! As it turns out, however, I got a little carried away and built up another one. For now, I'll be using it as my sub-bike this season.
The Cielo Cross Racer. The colors for this season are cool, but the 2012 model paint job, inspired by the "Porsche 908/3," is super cool. For the components, I stuck with Shimano, which I'm well accustomed to. No need to show off—I went with Ultegra 10s.
I'm using TRP CX-9 brakes (transplanted from a lucky bike that helped me promote to C2 in Kansai CX back in the day), and the 44mm head tube provides a solid feel that holds up well to the stopping power. I don't do much hard braking, but it’s a very confidence-inspiring frame.
Compared to my Hunter CX, I noticed the rear center is shorter and the rear end feels stiffer. The way it accelerates out of corners feels great, and if I can master it, it could become a real weapon.
So, I’ll be racing as part of the Hunter/SimWorks CX Team this season, but I’ve got plans for some new moves next year. First things first, though: get my form in top shape and secure my standing for this season. (Of course, I’m aiming even higher!)
