The bottle cage I’ve been eagerly waiting for has arrived!!
SIDE ENTRY WATER BOTTLE CAGE from SALSA CYCLES, ¥1,500 (plus tax)
This bottle cage was released by the king of adventure bikes, Salsa Cycles.
At first glance, it looks like a standard bottle cage, but wow! It comes with a brilliant gimmick that, for me personally, is so good it brings tears to my eyes and makes me want to buy it immediately!!
I immediately tried attaching a bottle.
Yeah, the hold is wonderfully secure!
And more than anything, the defining feature of this cage is that it’s a side-opening, single-sided mount.
That’s right—it’s designed to make it easy to get your bottle in and out even on small frames or when using a frame bag!!
My current JUS-style for quick road bike rides is to skip the saddlebag and front bag and just use a frame bag.
The frame bag is the Porcelain Rocket Universal Frame Pack.
This thing is truly excellent.
I put my wallet and smartphone in the frame bag.
Along with those, I also tuck in my multi-tool, mini pump, and spare tube.
And what's more, my compact digital camera goes in there too.
I can pack everything into this single frame bag.
However, the drawback was how difficult it was to access my water bottle.
The Side Entry Water Bottle Cage solved that for me.
For those of us who love frame bags, this is a nice and essential item. (Naturally, I bought a pair for myself.)

The answer is that by flipping the hold component 180° and changing its orientation before reattaching it, you can switch the side you access the bottle from, left to right!!
Until now, most side-opening bottle cages of this type only allowed you to access the bottle from the left side.
For someone like me who prefers to grab the bottle with their right hand, it was incredibly difficult to use.
Not only does this Side Entry Water Bottle Cage make it easy to access bottles while using a frame bag, but it also allows you to access it from either your left or right hand!!
Because of that, I highly recommend this!!
