Sage Green...

The Deeper's Wear Life Spec Meeting, a whirlwind four days, has come to a successful end. And yesterday morning, we had them join us for our CRC ride.

We got so carried away with saddle talk that I didn't even check the thermometer, but Togoshi Pass was a bit chilly this morning—you could really feel that autumn is deepening.

My choice of wear yesterday was a combination of a Riding Jersey (short sleeve) and a Riding Jacket from Search And State. The jacket I'm wearing is the Sandstone color, which was unfortunately discontinued (women's models are still available), but a new color has actually been added.

Searchandstate
It’s a piece that keeps the wind off the rider's body during the cold morning and evening hours, yet remains comfortable as the sun rises and temperatures climb. The secret lies in the special membrane used. Schoeller’s C-Change membrane has an excellent function where the fabric's breathability changes in response to the moisture produced by the body.

When it's cold, or during long descents where body temperature drops, the fabric contracts to block out the wind. Conversely, during early spring or autumn when temperatures are relatively stable, or when your body warms up during the ride, its heat dissipation increases, allowing for a comfortable ride.

In fact, I wore the jacket throughout yesterday's ride. Even when my body warmed up on the climbs, I didn't just stay comfortable by unzipping it to let air in—I also didn't have to worry about the typical stress of sweat buildup, condensation, or stuffiness inside the jacket.

Also, while it doesn't have taped seams on the inside, it features very high water resistance, and another characteristic of this fabric is that it can provide effects similar to a rain jacket as long as you aren't stuck in a downpour for long periods.

Searchandstate[Search And State] S1-V Riding Vest ¥29,500 (excl. tax)

The vest, made from the same fabric, is also a great piece for this time of year. Both the jacket and vest feature a zippered back pocket, making it easy to store nutrition, a wallet, and the like. Another key point is the use of a double zipper, which is rare in cycling wear, making it easy to access your jersey pockets even while wearing it.

It’s a jacket that, despite its very simple design, is crafted with a focus on materials and features devised to make your ride more comfortable. It’s a piece that personally makes me genuinely excited to head out for a ride, and one I think is hard to find a match for in terms of sophistication. And now that this new Sage color has arrived, which I intuitively feel like wearing... well, I’m in trouble now.
