The wind was so strong it woke me up in the middle of the night, but when morning came, it brought with it a clear, cloudless blue sky. Struggling to contain my growing excitement at the prospect of climbing a mountain in such perfect conditions, I began my ascent toward the summit.
I was determined to burn into my memory that magnificent view I had only ever seen in photos and on social media. It is a vista you can only witness because you’ve made the climb one step at a time on your own two feet—a view shared with companions along the way.
