I want to play seamlessly.

HANGOUT, which has also been a great support to us, is an outdoor shop in Nagoya called Moose. When their own Keisuke-san took delivery of his wonderful new bike, we talked about how we should definitely go for an inaugural ride together!

Once we decided that, things moved quickly. Joining us were people who know mountain recreation inside and out, like Nobu-san from Altra and photographer Shimpei-san. Since it was his first time, we guided him on a pleasant gravel ride in Seto.

We pedaled bikes through places we would normally traverse by running or hiking. It allows you to cover a wider area with more speed. When you encounter terrain you can't ride over, you carry or push your bike. Of course, if you get tired, it's perfectly fine to get off the saddle and take a break.

In terms of playing in the mountains, hiking and cycling are the same. By combining the strengths of each, you can broaden your way of having fun and deepen your mutual understanding. There is no need for labels like "hiker," "runner," or "biker"; the important thing is the feeling that we are all sharing the same space. You don't need to overthink it. If you pass a hiker, you yield the path, and if you offer a cheerful "hello," they’ll greet you back with a smile.

That was the theme of our conversation as we rode, and it seems he thoroughly enjoyed his first-ever gravel ride.

Keisuke-san is riding a KONA SUTRA LTD. Based on the SUTRA touring bike but equipped with wider tires capable of tackling rough roads, this "all-road" touring machine is truly an all-terrain bike—perfect for everything from bike packing to gravel rides and even light trail riding. Plus, the components are flawless, making it the perfect choice for anyone wanting to enjoy a seamless experience. I’m glad we recommended a bike that suits him so perfectly.

Also, one point characteristic of his approach to gear is that he simply utilizes what he already uses for hiking and running. There's no need to put on airs just because you're riding; being your natural self is best. We've featured this in With Bicycle, so please take a look.

Now that he has this new tool for adventure, I'm certain he will continue to expand his world. I am really looking forward to our next ride together.
