Shorts season is here!

Yesterday, while chatting with my boss and Yanack about this and that regarding singing Yutaka Ozaki at karaoke,
I was struck by an uncontrollable urge to go to karaoke.
Lying in bed before sleep, wondering what I should sing next time I go—or even, what songs are in my repertoire anyway?—I started searching around on YouTube, when I suddenly realized: "Wait, I have the option of 'Masayuki Suzuki'!"
That was my 3 a.m. epiphany.
So today, Masayuki Suzuki is stuck on an infinite loop in my head.
JUS here.

Now then.

For those of you who looked at the title and thought, "Huh? Shorts in this season?"

No, no, that's wrong, that's not it!

When I say "Tanpan," I’m not talking about shorts; I'm talking about the component called the Tanpan from Wolf Tooth.

This part is amazing—it lets you operate an MTB derailleur using Shimano STI levers!

No, no, that's a lie, that's not a lie!

It's the truth.

It mounts onto the cable stop of an MTB rear derailleur and changes the cable pull ratio, allowing Shimano MTB derailleurs to work with STI levers. By the way, there are two versions available: one for 10-speed and one for 11-speed!

This means you can set up a 1x drivetrain with a wide-range 11-42t cassette, or use an MTB rear derailleur with a clutch to prevent chain drop in cyclocross races to the absolute limit!

The cyclocross season is finally kicking off in various places.
If you're a cyclocross racer looking for a bit more low-gear range, perhaps the Wolf Tooth Tanpan is an option for you?

Of course, the Tanpan is great not just for cyclocross, but also for touring and adventure bikes.
However, for touring and commuter bikes, I personally recommend building with the Microshift parts that Makoto introduced on the blog the other day!
Either way, having more options is a good thing.
Depending on your ideas, it looks like you could build some really interesting bikes!

We look forward to your consultations and seeing you at the shop!

PS: My favorite song is actually the duet with Momoko Kikuchi, "5 o'clock in Shibuya," which is the B-side to Masayuki Suzuki's single "Chigau, Soja nai."
