Miumiu's American Adventure Log

America, the land of my dreams.

Stories from staff and friends, and the scenery I've seen in photos and magazines.

What kind of experiences await me there?

An adventure to learn about food and culture, which began seven days ago, has come to its finish in the blink of an eye.

Hello. This is my first time writing on the blog. I'm Miyuki (Miu-Miu), and I currently work at Pine Fields Market, which opened as the second shop for Early Birds. It has been a month and a half since we held our grand opening as a bakery in mid-January. Although it hasn't been long since we opened, I participated in this tour of America to help me grow, contribute to building our shop, and ensure that our customers and everyone involved can have more fun and feel a sense of fulfillment in their hearts.

We visited many trendy and popular shops across various genres, focusing on eateries. Roughly... about 30 of them. We really did go to a lot. Haha.

There is a reason why people gather at certain shops. What could it be? There must be a secret.

I found it.

It was, quite literally, people bringing people together.

Of course, the buildings, the items displayed, and the interior decor—things you feel visually—are all wonderful.

The food, drinks, and things you feel through taste were also very delicious.

But more than that, what touched my heart and moved me were the staff members working at these shops and their hospitality.

Not being able to speak English meant that I had to rely heavily on my senses.

The greetings and expressions of the waiters melted my restless, nervous heart and guided me to a smile.

"Are you okay?" "How is the taste?" Those words of care were so comfortable and warm, as if they had created a place where I truly belonged.

In almost every shop, the bar area and kitchen were visible or laid out in close proximity to the customers. Perhaps they can show these spaces precisely because they are confident in their craft and their work. It was so cool to see them unfazed even when there were many customers waiting, appearing as if they were truly enjoying the busyness.

It felt as if they were polishing themselves precisely because they were being watched.

Because I want to meet that person, because I want to talk, because I want to feel energized.

I want to go to that space, spend time there, and enjoy it.

I encountered many shops where people attract other people, and I was greatly inspired.

I want to go back, I want to become a regular.

While I can't easily go back to the shops I visited in America this time, they remain firmly in my heart and memory.

The reasons why people stay in our hearts and memories are different for everyone, but I want to be that kind of person, and work at that kind of shop. I feel that more strongly now than ever.

Matsubara, where Pine Fields is located, is a very attractive and vibrant area. While staying close to Matsubara, there are still things I can do and things I want to do.

After going to America, my list has grown even longer. Haha.

A huge thank you to Kinu-chan and Kazu-chan, who kept the shop open and did a great job while I was away on this American tour.

They still hold bottomless charm and talent in reserve. Many of you are probably aware of this already.

Going forward, I want to join forces with the three of them to liven up Pine Fields, the local area, and our home base in Nagoya at Circles Company. I want to enjoy it.

The American adventure is over for now, but the adventure in Japan is just beginning.

Come on, everyone. Let's enjoy this together! Let's have many adventures!!

Oh, and I'll be working at Early Birds again from March, so I look forward to seeing you there.

At Pine Fields, we are ready with delicious bread, baked goods, and coffee that we are proud of.

I look forward to meeting you!
