This coming weekend, 11/1 (Sun), is the season opener for the Tokai Cyclocross.
While the season has already begun in the Kansai region and other areas, things are getting into full swing here in the Tokai region as well. Now that the Tokai Cyclocross has become an AJOCC race starting this year, all seven events are in locations that are easy to get to from Nagoya, so participating by riding your bike there or going for a "spectator ride" would be a great idea.
You can register for each race on SportEntry up until one week before the event.
This year, I got a bit greedy with camping tours and Bike To Fishing, so I can't deny that I'm underprepared for the races, but I hope you will all cheer me on.
I’ve given my #mycielo Cielo CX Racer, which I’ve ridden for two seasons, a full overhaul. My main bike for this year, the CX Racer Disc, is also on standby (it won't be ready for this weekend, so look forward to seeing it at the next race). I want to show my energy again this year as part of the Cielo/SimWorks CX Team.
This year, my tires are again Dugast's Typhoon Cotton. While 33mm (the UCI rule limit) is the world standard, top-level racers in Japan use 32mm. (In fact, several racers have purchased these from SimWorks.)
Considering the physique of Japanese riders, 32mm is likely sufficient. Actually, I’m bold enough to choose 30mm. I've used this size since I first started using tubulars, and since I'm small and don't weigh that much, it’s not a problem for me. I tried 33mm with a different tread pattern last year, but my take is that 30mm is more than capable for courses in Japan. There are benefits in terms of weight and rolling resistance, but the deciding factor was that this size just feels right for my body.
Although the 32mm Dugast tires are currently out of stock, we have plenty of 30mm and 33mm in stock, so if you are considering tubulars, please consult with us.

[Dugast] Typhoon Cotton Black Sidewall ¥15,400 (excl. tax)
The standard Typhoon pattern is actually available in a black sidewall version as well.
These are special tires created in response to requests from top racers who wanted to use Dugast, but couldn't use the skin-side version due to sponsorship-related reasons.
Of course, for installation, please request the Circles signature CX SPECIAL mounting service.
Combined with CX TAPE, you can race through the season with peace of mind.

I will also be bringing a SportCrafters Omnium Trainer to the race venue. You are more than welcome to try it out, and feel free to use it for your warm-up before the race—don't hesitate to come say hi.
I'll be waiting at the black SimWorks tent!
