Essentials and crime prevention

The other day, the pedal strap on my fixed-gear bike parked in Fushimi was cut. For some reason, only the left one.

Also, my light was stolen while I was at it. The city is a scary place (lol).
Recently, I've been seeing reports of bike thefts on social media quite often, and I've come to feel firsthand just how important it is where you park.

Are you all properly parking in well-trafficked areas and locking your bike to something fixed (so-called "locking to the earth")?
Even for just a quick stop at a convenience store or in front of the co-op at university, I sometimes see unlocked bikes. It's important not to give anyone the idea to steal them in the first place.

There are many types of locks. Chains, wires and padlocks, types that combine dial locks, integrated types, and standard U-locks, etc...
While you definitely want a certain amount of length, if you consider things like rust resistance and how hard it is to break, you'll likely find the right one for you.
We have colorful locks from ABUS and knog in stock at the shop as well.

Also, the sun is setting earlier now, so don't forget your lights!
Although the Road Traffic Act was revised in June, I still encounter many bikes without lights on.
Don't forget that a light's most important role isn't just to illuminate the road, but to make your presence known!

By the way, I bought this to replace the light that was stolen.

It's a great value set featuring CATEYE's VOLT100 and RAPID mini (lol).
Both are USB rechargeable, and most importantly, easy to remove, so I'll make sure to take them off whenever I park in busy areas from now on...
It seems like wholesaler stock for this set is running low, but we still have plenty in the shop, so please come by and check them out.

Have a safe ride!!
