Yesterday, a tech seminar was held in Tokyo featuring Chris King himself, who was visiting Japan for the first time.
It was a great success, and I'm honestly jealous of everyone who got to hear the Kings speak and connect with their passion.
But don't worry, here in Nagoya, we’re holding our event on June 3rd.
If you're thinking, "Oh, I'd love to meet them," then please make sure to come to Circles on Wednesday, June 3rd, starting at 6:00 PM.
Well then, lots of Chris King folks have been arriving in Japan over the last few days.
There’s no doubt that this is for the upcoming Gourmet Century.
I introduced some necessary ride gear the other day, but I’d like to share some useful items that will come in handy for your daily rides, along with some local tips.
What comes to mind when you think of essentials for long-distance rides?
Nutrition? Water? Repair tools? Apparel?
There are many things, but to be precise:
"Cycling shoes"—something so obvious that people sometimes forget them.
They’ve become such an essential item that once you’re riding over 30km, you wouldn't want to go without them.
So, I'd like to introduce something related to these "cycling shoes."
The reason I’m bringing this up again is that
the lunch spot for this year's Gourmet Century is located right by a waterfall.
It’s a bit of a walk from where you’ll be parking your bikes, and a large staircase awaits you there.
While there are many choices for cycling shoes, those of you who use road cycling shoes, which can be particularly difficult to walk in, probably understand the fear of this scenario.
That’s where "cleat covers," released by various companies, come in handy.
By covering the exposed cleats of your road shoes, these items prevent your cleats from wearing down and make it much easier to walk.
Having these will reduce some of that fear and also prevent your cleats from getting deformed and becoming difficult to clip into.
When you know there will be some walking involved, like on this trip,
it's a great item to keep tucked away in your jersey pocket.
That said, the stairs this time around are long and quite steep.
Also, depending on the temperature, you might feel like dipping your feet in the waterfall or splashing around.
In that case, I think it might be a good idea to pack some flip-flops in a larger bag.
Here at Circles, we carry flip-flops too, so please feel free to stop by while you're getting your gear ready.
