Now more than ever, aluminum is the way to go.
Especially for short-duration events like cyclocross, lasting 30 minutes to an hour, and in competitions with lots of stop-and-go action, the acceleration performance of an aluminum frame is a huge advantage. Considering the wear and tear of tough CX races, I also recommend it because you can use it with peace of mind.
However, it is true that there aren't many options when it comes to pure CX aluminum racing frames.
The Giant TCX I introduced before is recommended, but it is disc-brake only. If you're looking to transfer parts from your current bike or use cantilever/V-brakes, it won't work...
There may not be many people who fit perfectly into what I've said so far, but
as one very good option, I would like to introduce the Anchor CX6.
Anchor “CX6 Equipe” ¥185,000 size:510mm color: Black Amethyst/Red
The complete CX6 Equipe bike comes with a 105-based setup that is race-ready right out of the box.
If you swap out the handlebars, stem, and seatpost, you can shed some weight. If you can change the wheels, too, then it's perfect.
Anchor “CX6 Frame&Fork” ¥95,000 size:530mm color: Candy Orange/Clear
Of course, we also sell the frame set.
Whether you're transferring parts or want to build a bike from scratch to win, we're happy to advise you!
Condensed with the know-how of Team Bridgestone Anchor, which has experience in world championships, this bike features not only pleasing acceleration when standing up, but also S-bend stays that absorb vibrations, allowing you to maintain traction and drive forward even on rough surfaces.
Also, the top tube has a bold, slanted oval shape to make it easier to shoulder the bike during dismounts. This is the kind of finish you would expect from a stoic racer.
And, as with the two bikes above, being able to choose your colors is another great thing about Anchor.
In addition to 33 frame colors, you can choose from 5 logo color patterns. You can also simulate it on their dedicated website.
They are on display in the store, so please come and see them!
Orders for next season are also very welcome.
Also, Hirata Cyclocross is this weekend. Since the first event was cancelled, there might be many people who have been waiting for this. I will also be racing for the first time since the All-Japan Championships. It's easily accessible from Nagoya, so riding your bike there is also a good option. Of course, we look forward to seeing you even if you're just watching! Since it's a local event, many people from Circles Racing Club and the Hunter/SimWorks CX Team are entered, so let's make it exciting!
Please check here for details on Hirata Cyclocross.
(It seems there are still some entry spots left, so it's not too late if you're still undecided!)
