【PEDAL】The season for delicious frappés—about plastic pedals.

Hello everyone!
Do you like frappés!?
I love them!
Plastic pedals!!

I’ve really been relying on plastic pedals.
Actually, I still do.
I’ve used plastic pedals on almost every bike I own.
Yes, for all genres.
What? You thought I wasn't talking about frappés?
I'm talking about plastic pedals, obviously!
That’s right, “Plastic Pedals”.

Of course, we have a rich selection here at Circles, too.
I’ll be introducing them to you one after another, so please read on.

【ODYSSEY】Twisted PC Pedal

Size : 1/2″,9/16″
Price : ¥1,800 ~ ¥2,800-

I’ve already installed these on my dirt jump bike.
Besides black, there’s a wide variety of other colors and prints available, making them arguably the perfect item for adding a splash of color or a sense of playfulness.
The key points are that they’re budget-friendly while providing great grip.

【FLY BIKES】Ruben Graphite Pedal

Price : ¥2,900-

I brought these in based on my own personal tastes and subjective opinion.
These pedals. I was just about to talk about how I love Matt Roey, but then I realized he’s not on the team anymore...
And honestly, Roey has nothing to do with these pedals... but they provide an incredible amount of grip.

I think these are great specifically because Flybikes supports not just street BMX riders, but also many dirt jumpers and other types of riders.
Also, compared to other pedals, the platform is a bit more compact, so they might be good for kids' MTBs as well. Of course, I’ve already installed them on my BMX!!

【ECLAT】Plaza PC Pedal

Price : ¥2,900-

Eclat supports a huge number of famous riders.
This PLAZA pedal is a model characterized by a large platform, which is the exact opposite of the Ruben pedal mentioned earlier.

As with the Ruben Graphite and Twisted PC pedals mentioned before, these feature a design that curves toward the center, ensuring the pins catch your shoe soles completely when you place your feet on them.

Now, if I leave it at this, people might start thinking, "Does this shop only carry black pedals!" so I'll introduce some colored ones too!

【ECLAT】Slash PC Pedal

Price : ¥2,900-

This is a slimmer version of the PLAZA pedal mentioned earlier.
The sophisticated Burgundy color is right up my alley.
I’d love to pair these with some Panaracer GravelKing Limited Color / Red tires...!!
What do I mean by "slim"? It means this!!

See, that's quite a difference, right?
Thin pedals have been popular lately.
They make the bike's silhouette look much sharper.
Of course, we have a few types of those at Circles as well.

【PREMIUM】Plastic Slim Pedal

Price : ¥3,500-

Despite their simple appearance, they provide a very solid grip.
Of course, I’ve installed these on the cruiser I keep at my parents' house.
The feature of these pedals is that the pedal platforms themselves are replaceable.

【RACEFACE】Chester Pedal

Price : ¥6,500-

"RACE FACE" is a parts manufacturer based in Canada, the mecca of MTB.
Among the plastic pedals currently in the shop, these are the only ones with steel pins.
The benefit of these steel pins is not only better adhesion between the shoe and the pedal, but they also prevent the pin from wearing down, which usually happens with plastic ones.

Are you thinking, "W-wait, these seem a bit too hardcore..."?
Are you looking for pedals with a more relaxed, classic vibe?
We have those too!!

【MKS】Graphite XX

Price : ¥4,500-

This is a product from Mikashima Manufacturing (MKS), a company Japan is proud to share with the world.
This is a reissue of a popular pedal from the 80s for BMX and motocross. Its shape and compact look strike a perfect balance.

And, a new MTB pedal has arrived from MKS!

【MKS】GAUSS

Price : ¥4,600-

These pedals are characterized by being thin and wide.
They feature a steel-pin design that generates significant grip.
Of course, they are removable, so you don't end up with more grip than you actually need.
And above all, the orange and navy "MKS" print looks really cool.

That concludes our guide to plastic pedals (fra-pe) here at Circles!
Just because the rainy season is over doesn't mean you can let your guard down—you might slip and lose your footing, so be sure to use pedals that offer solid grip!!

What, you wanted me to talk about frappés (fra-pe)?
Frappé means shaved ice, right?
My recommendation is A Cocotto.
Go eat there without asking any questions!
