2016 NAHBS, where I was overwhelmed by countless handmade bikes.
My first trip to the U.S. captivated me in so many ways and completely flipped my perspective 180 degrees.
If asked what my number one encounter was at the 2016 NAHBS, I would immediately name him.
“Matt Feeney”
Huh? Who’s that? What kind of frames does he make?
I imagine that’s what most of you are thinking.
Well, he doesn't actually make frames.
Then what does he do...?
The NAHBS venue was so vast you couldn't possibly see it all in a day, and it was packed with special bikes.
Many of those bikes were equipped with a front rack that is loved by countless handmade frame builders and cyclists alike.
This is the front rack I encountered at NAHBS and fell in love with at first sight.
At last, that front rack has arrived at Circles.
Matt is a reclusive craftsman who operates his workshop in Oakland, California, brazing each one with meticulous care.
Its lightness, which you wouldn't expect from chromoly, and the breathtaking beauty of the welds are true hallmarks of craftsmanship. Its practical design and classic yet modern aesthetic command a presence on city streets and will enhance your bike even further. Its durability is proven by the fact that it is used on countless touring bikes traveling the world.
The platform comes in two sizes: the 5-rail (26cm long x 32cm wide) and the 3-rail (30cm long x 17cm wide). The bike in the photos is a Civia Jaba Girl commuter fitted with the 5-rail.
The mount protruding from the stay allows for the attachment of lights or light mounts, and it even features internal routing for hub dynamo wiring. You don’t have to worry about using zip ties or wrapping wires around the stays. It’s pure aesthetic perfection.
The stays also come in two sizes: the standard fits 26-inch, 650B, and 700c wheels up to about 35c, while the tall size can accommodate 700x35c tires all the way up to 29er rigid ATBs, making its versatility another great appeal. (Compatibility can vary by bike, so please feel free to contact us.) Naturally, it is pannier-ready, allowing you to attach side bags as well.
There are two holes at the end of the stay, so you can attach a fender stay to the end even if your fork only has one eyelet. Honestly, I have never come across a rack with this level of perfection before.

The ultimate front rack for the uncompromising customer.
Carry a pizza to a party.
Carry a gift for that special someone.
Go on a long, long journey.
What will you carry with this front rack, where will you go, and what will you see along the way?
