Oldschool & Newschool…

PAULcamp, do you know it?

The event held recently by PAUL COMPONENT brought together a variety of builders, including California’s most renowned, as well as parts manufacturers. While there is another show in California called MYM (Meet Your Maker Tour), this event, much like MYM, provided a rare opportunity to meet the creators themselves in person.

First, everyone went for a group ride on the dirt and trails of Chico, California.

The bikes of #paulcamp are something else. Awesome to finally see these in person. Ride all the bikes!

Curtis from Retrotec brought along his Funduro ATB.

Hot fire from @sklarbikes! #paulcamp

Adam from Sklar also participated. The monster cross bike he built for the occasion accommodates 27.5×2.1″ tires. Hearing him talk about it, it seems it can also be enjoyed as a convertible with 700x45c tires, a multi-purpose drop bar bike concept that personally hits the spot for me.

Yes, some of you may have noticed, but the builders participating for this event each created special bikes, all of which are assembled with limited edition blue anodized Paul components.

After the ride, there was a bike show held inside the Sierra Nevada brewery, which is also based in Chico just like Paul. The bikes from the participating builders were displayed, allowing people to talk directly to the makers with a delicious beer in hand.

HUGE thank-you to @sierranevada for letting us throw the first bike show ever in the brewery yesterday! Paul was beaming the whole time. ☺️ #PAULcamp

And just like MYM, there was even a tour of Paul’s workshop, where we could see frames Paul had made in the past, numerous prototypes, and so much more.

By the way, the ones posting this photo are White Industries. Yes, they also supported this event, and the fact that they continue to make high-quality bicycle parts in the same part of California creates a strong bond between them. There’s no strange rivalry; they’re connected as peers who love the same bicycles, which is a great thing about the people in California.

Oops. Sorry #Paulcamp

There is still so much more to be curious about, but we’ll leave that for another time. Today, I’m here to announce that the seat clamps announced by Paul as a new product at the recent NAHBS have finally arrived!

【Paul Component】QUICK RELEASE SEATPOST COLLAR ¥7,600 (excl. tax)

This seat clamp was developed with the thought that it would be a missed opportunity not to utilize the excellent internal cam design used in their quick-release series for seat clamps as well!

Made one by one from high-quality aluminum and stainless steel, these products fulfill their fundamental goal as a manufacturer—creating things that can be used for a long time—while also piquing the curiosity of cyclists.

At Paulcamp, there was also a bike like this. Wisdom from our predecessors from an era before dropper posts. Is this old school? Or new school? That’s up to you! Because if you think it’s the one, then it’s a wonderful product you’ll be able to use for a long time.
