As the name suggests, the "Fusion" rim was designed by fusing the design concepts of Velocity's legendary "Deep V" and "Aero Head" rims. While we have built this rim—which hits the trifecta of lightness, aerodynamics, and durability—into a sturdy 32H configuration, we have also contributed to weight reduction by using DT aluminum nipples.
The hub is the Chris King R45 Hub. It features a Campagnolo body, which is rare for stock wheels. Moreover, it is a special set with ceramic bearing specifications. As announced in today's notice regarding specification changes for Campy bodies, current models have been changed to a stainless steel freehub body, but this set features the older aluminum freehub body. It is for this reason that it is a special price, and it makes for a slightly lighter build than the current specification.
Of course, by properly addressing any initial play and performing regular maintenance, the bearings will seat perfectly, making it a hub that truly brings out its best qualities the longer you use it.
