Yesterday was the so-called industry day, and with today being the actual first day of NAHBS, plenty of people are coming through. It's easy for things to get buried in the shuffle, but I will make sure to dig up the things I want you all to know.
Today, I'd like to talk about Breadwinner Cycles, which had a constant stream of visitors at their booth all day long.
The LOLO road racer has been painted in a new color, but check out those brakes. That's right—a disc brake version is being added to the lineup.
And this is the B-ROAD, based on their cross model, the Holeshot, but with a greater emphasis on gravel riding. It clears 700x38c tires, and you can choose between cantilever or disc brakes.
This show bike is built with downtube shifters, but depending on the rider's pace and usage, you can go with anything from STIs to bar-end shifters.
It's in the details where you can really see their commitment; you can opt to have original fender mounts attached to the ENVE fork, which allows for up to 32c tires with fenders.
And lastly, the BAD-OTIS, which won Best MTB. It's a new-school hardtail featuring 27.5″ wheels, 160mm of travel, and a geometry designed with a 1x drivetrain in mind.
A bike intended for enduro racing. I’m sure Mako-san is looking at this and drooling right about now.
Breadwinner is receiving a lot of attention at this show, and Tony and Ira were busy the whole time, but they were happy to answer all kinds of questions. According to Ira, they added orange as a new color because it's his personal favorite, and he thinks it looks cool to intentionally pair it with Chris King's Mango.
And, there are some special things you only get at a show like this.
They say they are only making 100 sets of hubs to celebrate White Industries' 20th anniversary. Uh, to be precise, we are planning to get three sets.
Tomorrow is finally the last day. I still have plenty of stories, but let's save the fun for later.
Today's shot.
At the Paul Component booth.
I'm doing well!
