I woke up earlier than usual and left the house before dawn, arriving at my spot just as the sun began to peek over the horizon. There's a heightened sense of clarity in this moment that I’ve grown addicted to.
The other day, I went on a Bike To Fishing trip for the first time in a while.
I headed to the Oehara River in Kaizu City, Gifu Prefecture. It's a famous field even within the Tokai region.
I strapped the bare essentials to my bike and used that mobility to hit a few different spots.
Rather than staying in one place, I prefer to fish by observing the weather and field conditions of the day, thinking about where the fish might be, so using a bike to move around is incredibly efficient. Incidentally, this Oehara River is located on the way from Nagoya to the Ninose Pass. I don't get out to Ninose as much these days, but back when I used to frequent the pass, I would often see anglers at the Oehara River. It’s funny—on this day, I passed several cyclists who were likely heading to Ninose (laughs).
Getting back on track, I want to talk about the eyewear I've been using for my recent rides and fishing trips.
I’ve been wearing the activite eyewear offered by [RAL].
Among the lineup, this model features polarized lenses, making it easy to use for people like me who enjoy Bike To Fishing. I love the design—it pairs a large lens with a slim frame, making it lighter than it looks and very comfortable to wear, and it looks great even when you're off the saddle.
[RAL] activite ¥16,000 (excluding tax)
Also, the bright "Kiwi" lens color ensures clear visibility not just on sunny days, but on cloudy or rainy days as well. It’s excellent for mountain activities like trekking and hiking, too. This item was made possible through the cooperation of CLT, a local Nagoya brand known for their original eyewear featuring domestically-produced polarized lenses. I think it will be useful for you in everyday life as well as for activities like riding, fishing, and trekking.
The logo on the temples and the package design were created with the help of Director Motonobu, who is well known for his work with RIDEALIVE and RAL COMMUNE. It’s a design that incorporates our own playfulness into an item that serves you well in many situations, not just while on a bike. I’m sure you’ll find eyewear that fits your lifestyle, not just the activite model, so please come by the shop and try them on.
The autumn issue of the free magazine cycle also features the [RAL] fixation. We are distributing copies of this free paper in the shop, so please feel free to take one home.
